No! I buy games for single player only! I try out multiplayer after I am done with single player and If I like it I will play it, but thats why alot of my games for my achievements I only got single player achievements and not multiplayer.

I buy them for a great story line. but i keep playing it for the online cuz at one point it is going to get boring playing the story mode over and over. unless the story is a never ending.

well sorta. when xbox came out nobody wanted it cause the crappy games and well thanks to halo savin xbox/microsoft butts ;) lol and later on, when xbox live came out and now it the best online commutiy out there and later on, now we got really good games so.. now its equal like single player and mulitplayer..

anywhose i choose both cause i play single player first to get know the game and know the story line. plus.. yes  the achivement points! lol.. then play multiplayer and met people online and just chit chat..

I never buy games for multiplayer. I feel that every game should have a great deal of fun to be had without having to rely on someone else playing the game. I feel that if more and more people just buy games for multiplayer, then some developers will start to slack on the Single player modes and focus on Multiplayer modes. Sadly that happened with Warhawk on the PS3. What was once one of the games I bought the PS3 for is now a Online multiplayer only game that I will almost certainly never buy.

Multiplayer is a big factor in all my gaming decisions. However, I have games I play for single player bordem, NFS series, Tony Hawk, Crackdown, Oblivion, Madden 07...Then games for multiplayer...Battlefield 2 : MC, COD3 , then some for both, GoW, Halo 2. RPGs I go for story. Single player I go for sports or racing Multiplayer I go for shooters. If there is bad multiplayer on a shooter, I don't buy it. I don't like the multiplayer on Lost Planet, never played the story....won't buy it.

i usually do for both.  but seeing as how i didnt get to play through graws campaign, no matter what i did it kept freezin on me while it was loading.  i'll probably still play through campaign but thats mainly a multiplayer game for me.

and im still buying warhawk when it comes out (yea i know 360 board but its relevant to the topic).  im mad they took out singleplayer but the multi still looks fun as hell, so thats a JUST for multiplayer.  SP and MP are both good

There are some games that are key to playing online.  The biggest I can think of is Battlefield, that game is so lame offline, it's whole utterly addicting appeal is the great online.

When people get addicted to online they don't want to play anything not online, it's really interesting honestly for me because all these people here seem to focus on offline play while I've had XBL since 2002 and the people I play with online almost won't consider a game without some kind of online aspect, at least co-op, something.

But it seems you mentioned people saying Xbox was much more a system with XBL and this has to do with several things.  Not just multiplayer playing but game demos, arcade games, movie/tv downloads etc.

I do not buy games for just Multiplayer, I like the Single player stuff a little bit, but playing Single Player againist the A.I just bores me way too easily, I made a thread on this forum, it is still on the front page and I cited that being a reason why I stopped gaming, before I got my 360, because I needed more of a challenge and online gaming has done that for me

now live is the single greatest piece of gaming technology ever, but just think. back in the days before online play, the n64, ps, and early glimpses of ps2 and xbox what did u buy? single player games. i never bought a game with friends in mind, usually because im not buying 4 controllers just to have a party. no u just played single player, when u were done u went out and bought a new game to beat and move on. at least thats how it was for me, thats also how i fell out of gaming for a couple years, i never played religiously, now i do thanks to the greatest system ever.... the 360!
