Do you buy Platinum Hits editions or go for the original?

I'm new to the Xbox 360 scene and only have 8 games, 3 of which are Platinum Hits editions: Forza 2, Dead Rising, and Bioshock. Since I only got a 360 a couple of months ago, the Platinum Hits editions of these games are the only ones I've been able to find new in stores or on sites such as newegg and amazon. I've noticed however that the covers are ugly as hell and I also don't like the grey cases they use instead of the normal green ones. I think I'll buy some empty green cases to replace them.

So when looking for a game that's kind of old do you just buy the Platinum Hits edition or try to go on ebay for example to find an original version, either new or used?

Totally agree. It kind of ruins things if you look at your game shelf and there's a random gray case in a line of the lime green originals cases. My OCD kind of becomes a factor when at Gamestop looking at used games.

I wait for lots of price drops. I have never bought Platinum Hits because I have always found the original.

I just got The Orange Box for 20 bones.

imo, wasting money just to get a case to make it "look better" in a collection is stupid

afterall,you buy the game to play it, not stare at all the cases...

I really don't care. The Spines all look the same in the library shelves

I have never even seen a platinum hits game. I would never buy one tho because I like the green cases.

Just FYI, there are sometimes minor bugs or glitches fixed in the platinum prints of the game disc. This isn't true for most games though; IIRC they did fix something in Dead Rising but not positive.EXLINK

Geeks! Who cares if you have no platinum nobody ever looks at it. If you really want to have a collection you're better of not ripping the shrink wrap & preserve it plus what do you do with the Limited Edition? If you call yourself a collector doesn't it make sense that you will get the LE edition & the Platinum edition too.

Its still the same game y it matters

I go with whatever I can get my hands on. I'm not too picky.

I don't know why, but I prefer the original casing, however if I can't find it I settle for the gray box. :cry:

jealous you have dead rising i cant find it anywhere!! i always go for originals but ive bought a couple of classics just for games that were to cheap to not get but overall i think classic covers look ugly
