I usually tend to give a bad review to someone if they quit a game early. To me this is just the worst online etiquette that you can have. It can be very frustrating especially when you are playing a game where there are teams.

And a lot of times there will be a domino effect when someone quits. If the score starts to change drastically due to someone quiting, sometimes another player on the losing team will get fed up and quit to. Which pretty much completely destroys the competitiveness in the game.

Although sometimes the game isn't really affected by only 1 person quitting. But if your already losing and and a teammate quits then it can be very difficult to catch up and win.

How do you guys handle quitters?

it feels kind of bad on halo 3. some people dont care about the exp scoring thing. but it shows that they have a lack of skill too. but if you hate this stay away from sf2. there is no penalty so people just keep quiting.

I do review players who quit. Though i do also review people who don't quit and give them good rep. It's only fair.

I never quit, I hate that stupid domino effect of peolpe quitting, I always stick it out. Yet i somehow have people giving me bad rep for "Quit Early" when i haven't quit a game in my life.

Good for you, man. I find it sad that not many players give 'good' reviews to people that they enjoyed gaming with. I try to give good reviews between matches to the players I like.

I don't really bother giving feedback - it doesn't really mean anything.

Also sometimes players don't quit on purpose. My internet and/or router can die randomly and need restarting. Some games (vegas for one) is prone to quiting or disk read errors (although in a disk read you can still talk, so can tell people yyou are quiting)

It is very very annoying. In vegas 99% of the time I stick to whatever team the computer puts me on, even if I am stacked against elites. For some reason most of the time I get put on defenders - I have lost count of the number of times I have been down to 2 people on defence after everyone has quite out.

Well for one angryfodder. The game i am currently playing (Gears of War) Gives you a lot of bad connection errors if someone's connection is dropping out. So you know if they are disconnecting or quitting. Also if someone just randomly quits while your shooting them or while they are shooting you, It's pretty obvious. So i don't give them bad feedback.

Yeah I forgot to acknowledge that you can get disconnected. And in some games there is no way of knowing if a person quit on purpose or accidentally. And if a game is really laggy then I don't give bad feedback for quitting since the game is unplayable anyway.

But I disagree that feedback doesn't matter. Since you can see why people avoid you, it teaches gamers what not to do while playing with other people online.

The amount of people that quit in Sonic 2 is ridiculous. The last 7-8 games in a row thatI've played, my opponents have quit by the 2nd Zone. I understand that the network code for the game isn't very good but a quitter is a quitter. Like Yucky said, it's bad online etiquette.

Yes, I do give feedback where possible, when a player can be properly guaged by how they've played. Shame I get 'revenge' feedback a lot of the time. Why can't people just suck it up and accept it?...

I dunno man - I have been online for about 2 years now and have learn that some people are just natural born losers.

That said, isn't there an option to avoid certain players? I guess thats a kind of feedback.

Maybe I should use it then?

THere is a big difference between being a sore sport and quiting early

you can tell if some one is a sore sprot if they are getting angry on the mike or if they are last place and so on

but for me some times, I just got to go. Dinner, go out with friends skateboarding, work, family what ever.

There is a huge difference and for most people you can tell the difference. I am ushually in first place in halo and some times I quit. I do feel bad when the damino efect takes place, but even when my whole team quits in halo, I stay in the game :D

When you give feedback(or review) you can either 'Prefer' or 'Avoid' players. If you Avoid, then you are given a bunch of reasons why you are avoiding them. If you check your rep, then you can see why people avoid you.

I don't, simply because I tend to give peple the benefit of the doubt that they have to go somewhere or are getting off, I think leaving bac feedback for someone leaving is rather a waste when I can be leaving bad feedback to hardcore trash talkers and haters.

I don't really buy the 'I have to go excuse'. I mean I understand that stuff happens and sometimes you have to just turn off our Xbox and take care of something.

But most people know when dinner in their house will be ready or if a friend will call back soon to go out. If it's close to that time than just don't join a game. Why commit to a match if you can't play till the end?

And if you someone has to quit for reasons beyond their control, then worst case scenerio the bad rep will remind them never to quit on purpose.

I do give negative feedback for quitters. It irks me to end up on the short side of a 2 on 4 match. The only time I've quit is when Live acts up and seems frozen.

I rarely give negative feedback for quiting early. Maybe there was an emergency at his location or his IP dropped. If it goes on alot then maybe a neg is in order.

What if you were really pissed because someone's quitting caused you to lose? Would you let them know that they suck with a message? Or just let it go?

no, it's stupid of you to do that. what if their box froze, or they got an error, or they got lagged out? you're going to give them **** over something they had no control over, even if they didnt want to quit in the first place? i'll give them bad reviews if they're being a total numbnuts about stuff, or being overly aggressive or making fun of other players, sure, because that's not fun. but not for quitting early. i've had plenty of people give me bad reviews for quitting early just for having my xbox freeze, and that annoys me a lot. i also get bad reviews just because i kick peoples *** in a game and they dont like that, whatever. but if i'm in a match in say, vegas, and the box freezes out at a crucial moment (which is not very often) i'll send a message to the host and apologize. BUT THEN AGAIN, when people quit on my team it just motivates me more to win. i've won matches in vegas that were 2 on 5, and even 1 on 5. me being in the minority. you should be confident with your skills.

i never give bad feedback to someone who leaves a game... basically because u dont know the reason... unless they say "im outta here this is bs" i usually say oh well... and go abuot my business.. like yesterday i was left alon in a team slayer and ended up losing 39-30 i left non of em bad feedback...i only leave bad feedback for people who say retarded stuff...and are very disruptive.. other then that i could care less... and the only reason i do it then is to not get teamed up with them anymore....

i have left games for being too laggy, and im talking about super laggy and i have left games cuz i just needed to get off cuz something more important popped up... im sure i have been reviewed for that but oh well... what u gonna do? i dont do it though...

*edit* also id say i have left 10 halo matches, and of those ten... id say 9 of those were cuz i was disconnected from live.....there was one time that i had to go...but yeah... in those cases i would rather somoeone quit rather then stay just not to los exp points and give them free kills

Yes, I will give them **** over something they can not control. Because I don't give the benefit of the doubt to a single person on XBL. I've been playing online for a very long time and I've learned that there are more C*** S****** playing online than anything else so the chances of them quitting for a stupid reason are pretty good.

But I do use my best judgement before giving a bad review. You can usually tell if someone quits because they are losing or having a bad game.

if u are good enough... u should be able to compensate for 1 player leaving... heck if u play it right that would be to ur advantage... u have more people to kill...but like always people dont team up and start getting double teamed...i have better things to do then waste time reviewing someone for leaving a game..

If I gave bad feedback to everyone that quit, I'd be spending more time submitting reviews than playing the game. Quitting is bad, but I just forget about it.

i rarelyuit....but when i do its cuz i have to go to work and the game was longer than expected (gears of war with the first team to 5 points(its just long when both teams are winning equaly lol))

but i give bad reviews to anyone who insults, dosent team play,or quits without anyreason.

if the gy has time to mentione hes goin to work or u actuly hear a baby cryib ib the background...well then its not realy his fault.

but thats a reason i only play with friends and no one else

Only in fighting games. I always go back to the lobby after each match, so if people want to leave they can leave. I just cant stand it when people quit out right before I can land the Knock out blow.

Anything else I dont care, if somebody needs to leave in the middle of a match in halo, or rainbow six I dont mind.... more kills for me:P

cause u never know why a person left the game early, maybe something came up, or he had to go, mom called, gf called. u dont really know so yea i could care less about people leaving the game.

I totally agree with yucky on this one. You have to use the bathroom? - Hold it for the next 5 minutes. Dinner is ready? - let it sit there for another 5 minutes, but chances are you knew it was going to be ready really soon (which makes you a rat b****** for joining a game knowing you were gonna leave) Phone call from a buddy of yours? Learn to multi-task, put them on speaker phone, or call them back when the games over. Someones at the door? Tell your teammates youre gonna be away for a second and suck up the death/loss for the round. Come back and finish out the game. Whoever was at the door can sit there in awe and watch you play a quick game. If they cry for any reason, tell them to go play in traffic. You need to be somewhere soon? You arent cool unless youre fashionably late. Either way, again youre a rat b****** because you knew and yet you still joined. You should be sterilized. Those are the 5 main "personal" excuses I can think of that people give for why they leave games. As for hardware failures or internet problems, unless you get the red rings of death, or an extremely crazy lightning storm knocked out power for your entire neighborhood ( in which case im sorry for you, those are the breaks kiddo ) there is no excuse for having a bad router( or good router set up improperly) or bad ISP when you can afford a 360, games, and XBOX LIVE. If your internet is that bad, quit paying the company like a sucker and find a good ISP.

Most of my bad feedback goes towards trash talkers or people who I see using glitches (which happens a lot in Vegas). Usually the only time I give bad feedback for quitting early is when I see the domino effect. I usually give bad feedback to the last people to quit rather than the first to quit though;while there's a possibility that the first person to drop may have had a bad connection/other issues, usually the last people to quit do so simply because they don't want to stick it out. 99% of the time I'll stay in a match even if all my friends drop out just because I can't stand to be one of those people who simply gives up when they odds are against you.

I also give lots of good feedback too. In my mind, the proportion of good feedback you give should be way higher than the bad feedback, and a lot of times I have to remind myself to go back and give good feedback to the players who I had fun with. It's hard sometimes to remember to give good feedback when you're having fun, but I give good feedback because I'd like other people to give me good feedback if they enjoyed playing with me. I guessI think of good feedback kind of like Karma.

I really wish MS would fix the rep percentages though, I hate how the positive one reads "X% of people prefered you or did not submit a review" yet my percent is like 70. If it really counted the people who did not submit a review it would be about 99.999%.

It never even crossed my mind to use the feed back. Hmm... There'd be a lot of 1 star people if everyone used it though.

I don't generally use the feedback option... I do sometimes if someone is a real ass-hat, but I'm not sure it does anything. But if it really allows you to "avoid this player", then I guess it's worth it enough. If only it would let you avoid all players LIKE that player.

But I do give good feedback as well. I generally give it to people that are really fun to play with, though I tend to never actually see them again. But I give everyone on my friends list good feedback after I play with them at least once. Not sure what the point of all of it is, but when in Rome etc etc.

As far as quitting early, sometimes you lose connection. I only will go with the feedback if it's CLEAR that they're quitting. But, again, I don't think it does anything and I may just stop doing this.

Yeah if i'm playing Player Match then i really could care less to give people good/bad feedback. You really shouldn't be getting any feedback for playing on Player Matches unless you're cheating or talking trash.

...do you know how long it takes to set up a good or neg review... do you know how many people use it for absolutely pointless things? I have had so many "Unsporting" negative reviews purely because I happen to win at a game. I never give good reviews or bad reviews, if I like someone, I send him a friend invite. Online games doesn't bother me in the slightest, I can't be bothered with ranked games, I'm not competive, I play to have a nice time.

There is nothing better than a saturday night, sitting down, pop corn, fanta... candy, cakes... whatever I get my hands on and just chilling for the evening with a little 5.1 surround sound blazing all around... although I do enjoy the romantic evenings in or going to the movies with Sara.

If I quit then it's early on, and for a good reason normally, not because I hate losing.
