I've had my 360 since launch-ish and I use to be an achievement fiend. I would go out of the way for them, borrow games I would otherwise never play from my buddies, and even bought arcade games thinking, "these achievements are easy". I was an addict.

But now, I really don't care about achievements. I mean I'm not codemning them completely. I still think they're cool and I feel somewhat accomplished (in the game not in life lol) when I get them. But lately, I haven't had the motivation to get them like I use to. Anyone else feel that way?

I only went out of my way once to get achievements and that was Call of Duty 4s. The only game i 1000/1000.

I'm not an achievement whore, but i do like going down the list and seeing what I can accomplish as I go through the game. For instance I saw one get 180 score for GTA4 in darts. So I figured, I was killing time while I waited for the date which was in 6 hours (in game time). got 180 and the achievement.

So I wouldn't say I technically go out of my way for them, but they are fun to do.

Some achievements are just ridiculous like be #1 on the GRAW ladder. Those I DEFINITELY do not go out of my way for. I also don't rent/buy games just to get easy achievements (King Kong). I simply rent/buy for the fun of the game.

I only care about the achievement that would challenge you or force you to play in a new perspective. Like beating veteran in CoD 3 or using nothing but melee and nades. They have to actually take effort to pull off.

I definitely spend long periods of time doing things I would not normally do, just to get achievements. I recently played the f*** out of LEGO Star Wars to get 980/1000. D*** Death Star II, it's so hard!

I don't care about them. What I do like is when there is an achievement that forces you to do something that you wouldn't have thought up yourself. I don't actually care for the points or the notification though.

You will also notice that he has stated that he used to farm for GS. He used to care a lot about his GS and now he does not. That is what his point is.

After finding out that RB6 Vegas's achievement, one or two of them are broken and unachievable due to the game update etc which caused the problem and guess what? A year later, they still haven't fixed the problem and failed the term "resolve it effectively and immediatley" they are aware of the issue over a year and rather spend time on a sequel without fixing the premier game's mistake, such a dissapointment, though, they could have learned from it which might occur on the sequel. After it, I lost interest on collecting achievements.

Yeah, same here. I only try to get them on games I would normaly play and own. I think there fun tho and add some much needed replay value. I dont think its bad for people to try everything to get them tho. Its their system, money & time. Let them do what they want.

I usually just have a look at the achievements to see what i can do. but if i enjoy the game i will go around and try and get them! Example: i just completed the one man army achievement for GTA IV but did it with no trouble at all!

I got that one just messing around. I have always loved seeing how long I can outrun the cops for and how high I can get my wanted level. I was messing around running over every one I came across and shooting cops. Next thing I new I got an achievement. I was like COOL.

I like getting certain achievements. I'll usually browse through the achievements of the games and see what I can do to get them. I sometimes go out of my way to get some achievements, but there are others I could care less about (i.e. collect 100 flags in Assassin's Creed)

I hate the online achievements some games have though for 2 reasons. Number 1, if you don't have Live, you'll never get online achievements. Number 2, online gameplay is so unpredictable, some of the online achievements seem almost impossible to get (Halo 3 - Overkill. In a lone wolves contest even!).

I wouldn't borrow games to unlock achievements. I think that's cheating in a way since you don't really own the game. I enjoy them from my perspective actualy gives me more motivation to do something, other wise I get pretty bored playing a game. And by the way.. you said "in the game not life lol".

Gaming is apart of life. There is no seperation. It's like saying the internet isn't real life. It is. People just don't have the right perspective yet.

Well yes of course i care for them they add alot of replay value for me and i love to challenge my self....also somtimes i challange me and my friends we challenge each other of our achievements in certain games, but i wont go out and buy or rent crappy games and play them for achievements. [ but since i have a small sis sometimes me or my dad buy some games for her so yes i could sometimes get achievements by her playing games such as open season, surfs up.etc]

i love getting achievements. i will even go to the web and print off Assassin's Creed flag locations haha.
I just like the feeling of looking through recent players and having more achievements than everybody else, and i always try to have more achievements than all of my friends.
and i dont rent for achievements, i dont have any money
but yeah i will definately go out of my way for some. when i get 10k GS and 20k GS I will be so happy since maybe like 10% of xbox live users have over 10k Gamerscore

I really don't care about achievements ... I haven't had the motivation to get them like I use to. Anyone else feel that way?

SecretWasianMan

Do not belittle Achievements. If you ever get bored you should finish all your game's accomplishments. You would feel a sense of satisfaction if you would complete those games you play completely before buying new ones!!

i guess you could say im an achievement fiend, as in the sense that i will go out of my way to get achievements (had to play the ridiculously long command and conquer first 2 campaigns seperate times on each difficulty even after beating hard first), but i will not go out and buy/rent a game just to boost my gamerscore, what good is it if it took you 20 minutes to get 5000 gamerscore off some easy games (avatar, tmnt, to name a couple)? gamerscore is to show skill and resolve, having the hard achievements and legitimately acquiring them is the real satisfaction, like getting the two for one on halo 3

They're addicting. But that won't make me play a game I'm not having fun with, or beat a game under an absurd set of circumstances (Ikaruga's achivements). For games that I really enjoy, the achievements are fun to get. Otherwise, I could give a damn about a little number next to my gamertag on the already-idiotic Live Network.

Yup. Totally.

Achievements make me play a great game even longer, a good game more than I would and a crappy game for at least a few more times that I would without them. They must just trigger the "gathering" nature inside all of us, otherwise I would've given up on Burnout Paradise a long time ago (I have 1 more gate, 2 more jumps and 1 more billboard to get).

I do and I don't. I used to think they were a neat idea, like merit badges for gamers, but then the whores cropped up en masse and I sorta gave up on the idea that they could be something to show off. I still like to get them, but whores and on-line achievements have started to wear me down. More than anything I just want them to be about accomplishing something unique and fun and not for simply finishing a stage.
