There are 7 games in the series now. Only 3 are main games. There is also comics, novels, anime, toys, and a supposed movie. Also, when they announced Halo 4 in E3 this year, they also announced that there would be a Halo 5 and Halo 6. Why wont Microsoft finish their candy bar before opening another 2 candy bars? It is annoying. Halo 3 was supposed to be the last game, but a year before Halo 3 was released, they announced Halo Wars. And then before Wars came out, they announced ODST. And then before ODST was released, they announced Reach. And then they announced 4 games at E3 this year! FOUR!!! Anniversary, 4, 5, and 6. Why do they keep milking the series? It is getting quite sad really. That is why I am not excited for Halo 4. Maybe if ODST, Wars, Anniversary, and Reach never existed, then I would be super excited for Halo 4, but the fact that they have been releasing Halo related products constantly and expect us to be excited for Halo 4 is crazy. The series has been ruined because of this in my opinion. Seriously, did they have to make Mega Blocks of Halo??? Really?

Yes. They are milking it; it's one of Microsoft's gold mines. People will buy anything with a name HALO on it. I have also spent enough money on HALO and "Reach" was my last game and final Halo game I will buy.

I know people who are going to buy HALO 4 even though the original company left.

Yeah its definitely being milked no question about it, but thats just common practice these days for the bigger named franchises. I had my fun in halo 1-3 and reach i doubt i'll ever pick up another halo game, its all about quality though if they really make something worth my time i'll buy it.

no its far from being milked. If it were we would be at like Halo 10. ODST wasn't a sequel and really just an expansion pack to Halo3 dont know why people consider it another full halo release. Halo wars is an RTS and wasn't all that bad. Theres nothing wrong with trying something new and further exploring the universe of the series. Anniversary is pure fan service. Hordes of people kept asking for it so they gave it to them and i see nothing wrong with that. Halo reach is a main entry in series so make that 4 main games. 7 games over 10 years is not milked.

A good example of milked is of course COD or 1st party nintendo games ect.

I can honestly say that even though I want to be done with Halo after Reach, I am partially interested in how Halo 4 will turn out.

And yes, it is mainly because it has Halo as the title.

Yes I do. Microsoft would have best put Halo 4 on the upcoming Xbox 720 or Xbox Pulse. Or whatever MS ends up calling the Next Xbox. Halo 4 would make an excellent launch title for Xbox 3. In 2013 or 2014 whenever it is released.

However MS will release it on Xbox 360 and Cash in. So yes Halo series has been milked. Halo Wars, Halo ODST, Halo Reach. and even the HD re-release of Halo Combat evolved. Microsoft has decided to milk the Halo series.

I would wait on Halo 4 and relive the Halo Franchise, Polish this game and release it on the Third Xbox as launch title. Polish this 4th installment and return Halo series to greatness.

But Micosoft will do a quick Cash in. And milk it. (MS has to make money so Milking Halo is in order)

I thought the first game's campaign on the Xbox was ok enough that I ended up getting a copy for the PC. That is where I spent many hours playing online. Halo 2 seemed to improve the graphics and continue the story and was my introduction to Xbox Live. By the time it came out for PC I was interested enough in the added content and improved graphics, but not enough to keep Vista or the game installed. Halo 3, I hadn't actually planned on getting when it was announced but when I did, I had a great co-op weekend with my nephew going through the campaign and I even ended up getting all 3 versions - for some reason. That is pretty-much where the entertainment value ended for me with the series, as I still see ODST and Reach as too much of the same. I've never been the biggest RTS fan so I had no interest in Halo Wars. Basically if they haven't milked it enough with those 3 games, they are with 4 and I still think the Anniversary Edition should be budget-priced and/or a Live-Exclusive downloadable game.

It's the same way with COD. Or any other big gaming franchise.

No I don't, the only Halo game I felt that was a cheap cash in was ODST. The series as a whole (if you ignore ODST) is pretty good throughout and the CE remake was pretty good. So I think Halo will havea pretty good future ahead of it, BUT I am a little worried abotu 343 stuidios. I don't know too much about them, and to be honest, I think Halo needs to have some changes made to it.

In this day of COD, Killzone, Battlefields ect... Halo isn't the giant it used to be. It's still a good game series don't get me wrong, but it needs to offer something newto stand out IMO.

Halo games usually came out about 4 years apart. Once Bungie said they would stop developing it, Microsoft announced 2 Halo games the FOLLOWING YEAR (including a remake of CE which let's face it, didn't need a remake). What does that tell you.

You know there is this negative stigma about the number of games in a series, solely stemming from the internet culture. The reality is, whether a series has 2 games or 20 games, the 2nd or the 20th, it doesn't matter how many games came before it, all that matters is if that game is any good. Would you refuse to play the 20th game in a series, even if its an amazing experience? If you do, then your not much of a gamer. If you wont, then what does it matter how many games are in a series? When a series has so many games that the creativity well seems to have run dry, its no longer fun to play them or with the case of the annual franchises, where you may feel cheated by the game losing much its value in less than a year(mostly MP dependent games) If that's not the case, then why do people care about how big the number is on the box? A game is either good or its not, the number on the box wont change that.

no its far from being milked.

If ODST was an expansion, then why would they price it at 60 dollars?

Yes, you can actually. That is why people are hating on CoD now, of course. It is because they no longer feel like full games.

IDK maybe because they felt it was worth $60 but make no doubt about it thats ODST is an expansion. Price has nothing to do with it though. Its basically just a side story campaign Using halo 3's engine and more Halo 3 MP content aka an expansion. Console games dont normally get expansions but ODST is an expansion. In fact why am i explaining this the games full title is Halo 3:ODST it has Halo 3 in the title man.

Well yeah I honestly think they are milking the franchise however I don't see anything bad with it . . . I mean as a consumer I don't really lose anything whenever a company milks a game franchise, if I don't like it, I won't buy it, problem solved . . . Truth be told, the only Halo game that I really think was great is Halo:Reach, it's the first Halo game that I played and I loved it alot so after that I tried playing Halo 3 which was pretty boring for me . . .

I love Halo, but yes. I personally think that they should have done Halo CE - 3 and Reach. ODST was milking it. Halo Wars was making it. Halo 4 - 6 is milking it. When Bungie handed off its baby, you know that they were even wanting to move on to stop milking their own franchise.

No one goes after Madden or COD or 90% of Nintendos franchises. How many times can you rescue Peach before you realize I've been doing this for 20 years?

Someone above said it best. If the game is good and stands on it's own who cares if it's game 2 or 20? We know nothing on Halo4 at the moment and just cause the original team is not there doesn't mean it'll be bad. May mean we don't have the same feel of the other Halo games but as long as it's something fun and interesting I'll play Halo4 - 57.

Long story short Halo makes money. Why would you want to stop making money with your top franchise? Even if Halo is not the top dog of gaming it once was doesn't mean it's still not fun. COD right now is the top dog and those games don't interest me enough to buy them.

I totally agree, but sometimes we just need to move on.

Best argument to that is you can always move on. Doesn't mean the majority of the gaming community has to come with you. It only effects you if you want it to just like COD has no effect on me cause I don't like those games. (Although friends list does seem pretty dry when everyone else is playing it.)

If Halo 4 ends up being horrible IMO then I'll move on but doesn't mean I'm expecting everyone else to follow. Just like the CODMW3 vs BattleField3 arguments. Why are you going to let a game you don't like effect how you play another?

I think CE:Remake was a good way to introduce newer players to Halo. Think about it, a 14 year old kid, was what, 4? When the first Halo dropped, they prolly have little to no memory of the series until 3, unless they grew up in a house of gamers. CE picks up right where Reach left off. Now you have a whole new generation of Halo players. If Halo is milked than Mario or Tomb Raider should be extinct.

I would'nt go as far as to say it's being milked, but MS is really pushing it right now. I still stand by my opinion that the series was just fine ending with Reach. I've been a big fan of the series- I own every Halo title on the 360 sans Halo Wars, and honestly I've had my fill, personally. I don't really see the need for another trilogy besides the obvious. (Easy $$$) It's time for something different.

What I call it is laziness on MS's part. I really wanted to see something new at E3, but it was more of the same. Halo 4!!!! *okay.jpg.* The reason I say it's not being milked just yet is because Halo 4 has yet to be released, and 343 still has time to make noticeable changes to keep the series from repeating itself (I'm doubtful of this, personally). At this point, my interest in 4 or any future titles is quite low.

It is being milked, microsoft just want to make money. Bungie have stopped making Halo games so microsoft created 2 other studios.
Microsoft are also milking it because Halo is the main attraction for an xbox, being xbox's killer app. Without any new Halos for the
xbox i think microsoft are worried that they would lose sales, though i don't think this is true. Most xbox players now play CoD so Halo
has lost its reputation in my opinion as being the reason to buy an xbox

no its far from being milked.

Gen007

Most people considered ODST a full game until they played it. It did cost as much as a real game and that was almost the beggining of the milking of the halo franchise.

I loved Halo, it is propably in my top 10 games of all time. Halo 2 was excellent because of the multiplayer experience. Halo 3 was a nice evolution of the halo franchise that tweaked gameplay and made multiplayer games and community maps possible. Then ODST- do I even have to mention what's wrong with it. Last and ceertainly least is Halo: Reach. Essentially using the old engine to create a game that most people don't recognize as a Halo game. Add in the inability of the game designers to keep people from AFKing, especially because the game designers are ultimately responsible for this flaw in the community because Bungie wanted people to earn their clothes. Instead of Bungie fixing this, they went on a mass banning spree. They got at least 3 people I know who don't cheat. They don't care enough to cheat. They quit playing because of this nonsense and now I rarely play because I enjoyed plying with my friend.

Oh yeah, the introduction of an RTS into the FPS world of Halo was clearly milking the franchise. They could have named the RTS anything they wanted and they decided to call it 'Halo' for the money.

COD and Halo have been milked dry. I doubt I will ever buy another COD or Halo

[QUOTE="Alex3796"]

[QUOTE="TheManofTin"] If ODST was an expansion, then why would they price it at 60 dollars?TheManofTin

Wasn't it priced at $40 like CE Anniversary?

No. They charged a full 60 dollars for it.

odst is a expansion. Bungie wanted it to be dlc. BUT Microsoft loves money and has control over the market of halo. SO ya

This. I love the Halo series. It's my second favorite vidoe game series(first being Sonic). I believe 343 will do a great job on Halo 4. I can't believe people are jumping to extreme conclusions already saying their going to screw it up and it will be the worst Halo game and we just have a teaser so far.

Its like TC Hawx, TC End War, TC Hawx 2 they're are definitaley more criminal forms of using a name to sell a games that is lame. Halo 3:ODST was alright, Halo Wars was uneccessary (Like End War), Halo: Reach didn't do much, Anniversary is HD version of old. I'm hoping 4 actually adds something useful to the series.

Really?

Well the first was the best IMO and one of my all time favorite shooters...i was dissapointed in 2's singlelayer, but multiplayer was great, 3's singleplayer was another big dissapointment for me, but again the mutiplayer was awesome, which i played quite a lot. i thought ODST was terrible for the price i payed, the singleplayer was not very interesting, was always dark and seemed repetitive and the multiplayer was the same as halo 3 (though admittidly it was good having the dlc), firefight was good but not enough, seemed more like dlc than a full game. I dont own reach but played the beta which i found brilliant and the rest of the game looks really good as well, not sure why i didnt buy it but it seems a bit late now so i will probably give it a miss (shame since it was Bungie's last).

But Overall i love the series and dont think its being milked, even with the few disappointments, and will be looking forward to Halo 4.

I dont get why people that either never liked Halo or moved on from Halo wants the series to end when there are millions of fans still interested. They make Madden, final fantasy and Mario games every year but I dont go on a hate spree and tell people they need to end the series. Let people enjoy there games. this makes no sense to me
