So, do you enjoy Halo or Gears of War more? I know one is a first-person shooter, while the other is third-person, but I wanted to know what you all thought?
Halo 3 for me...i know many people think its way over-rated but you cant deny that it has the most polished and complete online experience on the 360 (matchmaking, forge, ranking, save films, allows guests online). It might be lacking in the sp department compared to GeOW but i don't really care because i get shooters for their online mp. If i want a good sp experience ill go play an RPG like oblivion, Mass Effect...etc.
I like Halo multiplayer better because of forge and that multiplayer doesn't revolve around the shotgun. Gears 2 multiplayer also has host advantage which is a serious problem, and there is lag and lag switching at times.
Im going to go with Gears cause i really enjoyed the first one so i pre ordered the second and i enjoyed that one too. In terms of Halo i havnt played as much of it i have played halo 3 multiplayer and campaign and i enjoyed it but i have only played a bit of the first story and multiplayer and none of the second game. So i like Halo as well bt i enjoy gears more, i mean you can cut people in half with your lancer and what do you do in halo hit them with a giant hammer.
I enjoyed Halo a LOT more. I have played all three of them at least two thousands hours in total and some of my best multiplayer moments are the 6 vs. 6 in lan parties. Gears so far hasn't impressed me. I have both of them but feel no need to play them. I have played both and eh they bored me pretty quickly.
Depends on the mood I'm in, sometimes I like Halo more and sometimes Gears, original Gears not Gears 2, which has ruined online multiplayer IMO. I haven't played Gears 1 in a while though. :(
I hate both games, but I have to say Halo 3 is by far the most amazing of the two. sadly, in order to play Halo 3 on anything besides Lone Wolves, you have to be a dedicated map buyer, which i am not. its the only game where 'Premium Content' is almost Mandatory. It is fun sometimes though.

funny reasoning, cause both games can take as much or as little tactics as you decide. They can both be run in and start shooting, or plan weapon grabs, map strategys etc. just depends who you are and who you are playing with. i also found your last statement quite funny, so u prefer to watch games rather than play them?
i liked gears of war single player better than halo's single. i am good at halo while playing online, yet i suck at gears. i am not sure if its just me but when online with gears it turns out to be a very hard game to play. so i give it to halo 3.
I played fora long time and I think they're just different, neither is better than the other. Gears has more that you can do in single player with practice mode, horde mode, etc. Halo is great when you factor in the multiplayer. Gears 2 multiplayer is great, too, now that they patched it. I played out Halo and I'm currently playing Gears 2 on live. I'm sure I'll go back to Halo 3 at some point.
Halo nice story and interesting charachters , I just never liked the charachters in GOW or the third person view but I do like Resi 5's third person view.
On a serious note, both are awesome, but the Gears series edges it, for the sheer visceral fun and mayhem. It's a lot more atmospheric as well. That section in GoW1 where you have to stay out of the dark? One of the best game sequences of all time IMO.
I easilly like Gears of War 2 better becuase it is. My reasoning is as follows. I like the sp and mp of Gears of War 2 better overall. Halo 3 is too easy. Online or offline. You need a challenge at least. I will admit that Halo 3 on Legendary offers some challenging moments. I just cant play halo consecutively. I have had it from a friend and played for about a month and a half or two months but now it is soooo boring. Cannot standplaying it anymore. Gears of War 2 has me coming back for more and more. Widening peoples rectums is much more funner and satisfying is Gears of War than any other game. I almost forgot. The only thing i like about Halo mp better would be the film and photo setup. If only Gears 2 had a way to capture those "rape"moments. Ohhh that would be sweet.
I enjoyed both but since bungie did the stupidity of not allowing you to play ranked matches unless you buy the maps, I play Geears 2, and halo 3 only with friends.
I enjoy them both so much, I think it's impossible that either one is better than the other overall. One may have something a little better than the other (examples: Halo has superior online setup,whereas Gears has more up-to-date graphics), but they are just too dang awsome to be compared. They're both great games of equal quality!
