do you like the halo 3 assault rifle?

Personally I dont like it to much. I think its too week and the magazine is far to small. Having to reaload befroe the other guy is almost in instant death. In halo 2 starting out with an smg was better becasue you could always pick up one more gun to dual wield. what are your guys thoughts?

thats probly becuz you dont aim at their head and ur missing... otherwise I think the gun does what it needs to do when they get close slap em

might be becuase all you had to do was take a charged plasma pistol and then switch to assault rifle at the head and they're dead. May have got complained about too much because ppl were getting their a**es handed to them with that combo :D.

I like the assault rifle, its a good starting weapon that a skilled player wont get completely demolished by other midrange guns on the map, the smg was bad because you had to first pick up a dw combo to make it effective. I do wish it was louder, and to those who say they run out of ammo, remember CONTROLLED BURSTS!Bobbomadic121

Just don't complain about weapons, if you don't know how to use it don't,there's more weapons on the map. If you're good at halo 3 though like me you can get a triple kill with the assault sometimes. It's not hard at all to get a double with it. Pump a few bullets in someone with it, melee, reload, turn, pump a few shots, melee, double kill. Easy.SirCokerThe1st

All hail the return of the assualt rilfe. God i missed it in halo 2, the clips has been reduced from 60 but thats fine cause the damage has been upped a little, a full clip of the new one is enough to kill someone, its also good for melee combo after a burst.

Starting with an SMG in halo 2 was a huge mistake, simply because everyone just started dual wielding and stopped using grenades and melee (this was actually sited by the devs as one of the greatest flaws of Halo 2 multi as the essence of Halo 1's multi was Guns, Nades and Melee).

I only wish the original pistol would have made a return, that thing was awesome. But ill guess ill just stick with my AR/BR or Carbine combo :)

I have to disagree with the fact that no one uses nades or melee. If I'm close enough I will press B to melee even if I am dual wielding. Same thing for grenades. I just drop it and throw, for example when I'm right about to die.

Did you read what I typed at all? Halo 3 is rediculously easy going from a strong background of online pc shooters to halo 3 on xbox live.... I wasn't insulting you, I was saying it's a little pointless bragging about it.

Amen to that! My ONLY complaint is that my favourite gun in the franchise now sounds like a pellet gun instead of the machine powered-kickass-orama it is supposed to sound like...

main reason the AR was put into the game, the smg was a really bad weapon to start with gameplay wise cause it was simple (duel weild, and you'll kill) which is why the AR is good, its balanced
