I have it and like it for what it is.

With the elite its a better value but at $199.99 you really can't go wrong.

I have it as well...for $200 you cannot go wrong if you want a HD player and already have a 360.

If you do have one get a copy of "Planet Earth" in HD...that has the WOW factor for HD.

When I get the money saved up to get a 46+" 1080P hdtv (32" 720p atm), I'll consider picking up one.

I have one and I love it. I don't have much of a collection of HD-DVD's -- I just rent them (I've heard I may be getting Planet Earth for Father's Day -- *crossing fingers*). The difference is quite impressive on a good TV. My Sony LCD TV is 42" -- some people say it's not really worth it to have HD-DVD unless you go bigger than that, but even on a 42", the colours are so vibrant and the details are very impressive. The contrast is much better than DVD. I've tested the difference with combo discs that have HD on one side and standard def on the other -- the HD is 10 times better. If you're into movies, it's a worthwhile purchase -- try to find a deal like the King Kong bundles with the remote -- that's pretty good value for 200 bucks.

I got mine at Circuit City when the $40 off $200 coupon still worked for it. For $160 it was a steal. Combine it with a Netflix subscription and it's a great product.

When I got it thats what I was looking for, that " WOW " feeling, but I only got it real good with like 2 or 3 movies. Most of them just didn't seem too much different than that of a regular DVD, therefore I sold it. Got rid of it for $225 to some guy in Spain, so I ended ahead a bit.

I have been thinking about getting one but im not too sure if I should spend my money on that when dvd's get the job done. Will it look good hooked up to component at 1080i or should I just skip it ? I dont have a 360 elite so I wouldnt be able to display the picture in 1080p :(.

I don't want one until you can rent HD DVDs in the store and almost every movie is in HD.

For now I am more than happy with my high quality upscaling dvd player, it does an amazing job for what it is.

upscaling doesn't work, trust me. I have one and love it. I have a 42" plasma and it makes a big difference. If your into movies than you should get one.

If u have a HD tv the HD DVD add on is a must buy. Watch Planet Earth and be amazed.

The only problem, u start to notice all the flaws in regular DVD`s, u get kinda spoiled.

What exactly do you mean "With the Elite its a better value"? Better value than what? Do you just mean for the HDMI connection you get with an Elite connectingto an HD DVD add on?

Planet Earth has to be the most bad@$$ show ever, and I would by the HD-DVD add-on based solely on that series.

yah i do and i really like it but there is a lot more blu ray movies comming out then HDDVDs right now but i also have a ps3 so im lucky

.

But it is what it is a great HDDVD player the only downside is that there is no HDMI unless you have an elite but on a plus side you can hook it up to a pc if you want unlike if it was a full player

Nah I can't really see the point I'm not a big movie fan and even the thought of having to buy any films that I do have ...again is just depressing!
