CoD4 which has outstanding gameplay, endless replay value and it is just a highly addictive game didn't even get close in total sales

I honestly do no know if Gears will outsell Halo 3. It will put up a good fight for sure, but its not certain. GTA IV will for sure due to a multi system release.

True, GoW2 will beat Halo 2, but Halo 2 was last gen so no real comparison there. I think it will have great sales but the multiplayer needs to improve. If they do that then at least by the time GoW3 comes out it should beat Halo 3. I have no doubt the single player will be very good anyways for #2.

I honestly don't think it will pass Halo 3's numbers...but since Halo is done I think Gears is going to be Microsofts new baby I guess come the summertime we'll see how marketed the game is.

Regardless I'm buying the Collectors Edition and will be playing it non-stop...I love me some Gears!!!

If you include PS3 with the 360 sales then yes GTA IV, as for GoW2, not likely but it will still do very very well.

Well, it isn't a big deal. The series is one of the most acclaimed ever. I don't know if Gears of War 2 is going to exceed Halo 3 in sales, but I don't think so. Time will tell.

I think that's the real reason. Parents may buy a game for their kids where you punch a goofy looking alien that screams "don't hurt me" comically. I can't see them buying a game for their kids where the first trailer for the game has a large man chainsawing a human-like monster.

I also think that the extremely mature tone for GTA4 is going to hurt it, and I would be surprised if it passed halo 3. GTA4 is something I've been expecting the Clinton campaign to target, and I think that the negative press might actually prevent parents from buying it for their kids this time.

Story, in Halo we actually have some idea whats going on, in Gears all we know is that somehow mutant people have sprunge from the underground and they don't like people with skin tone.

Gameplay, both games have a pretty solid story mode, but it's in multiplayer that Halo really out shines gears. Whereas Halo has a smooth, consicestant multiplayer experience, Gears is the exact opposite. You start out with a way too powerful shotgun which pretty much turns every match into a shotty game, the maps are almost all symetrical, which is boring as hell not to mention unimaginative. And the spawning is just retarded, considering there isn't really spawning at all based on the round driven gameplay.

I'm sorry, but go out on the streets for hours on end and ask everyone who passes you "do you gears or halo?" chances are nine out of ten are gonna say Halo.

Sorry to burst your bubble with the cold hard truth, Halo is better. Period.

Unless Gears 2 has a completely revamped multiplayer and a more in depth storyline and don't see it even scratching Halo 3 records.

Also, did anyone else notice that gears 2 was announced pretty close to when it's scheduled to come out (ten months) which isn't alot of time in the game world. They better have been working on it since they finished #1.

Well i doubt the game can be hurt that much since that one nude part in san andreas. Which i believe is lame i saw it and i've seen more nudity in pg-13 movies. I could careless what clinton has to say because i'm old enough to get the game on my own. Plus i doubt it would be as bloody/violent as gears which sold tons.

As for gears two outselling halo 3 it might because it'll be a newer fresher game and most people just stop liking their older games when the newer games come out. As for me i'll like it more if they make it even bloodier and a more in depth story. If it looks and feels like an expansion i doubt i'll buy it right away i'd wait for it to drop to $40. If halo 3 was the last of that kind than more people will start liking gears because it'll make two more games.

Well I don't know if it will outsell H3, but it could come close to matching it because the first Gears sold 4.5 million units or so, and that was just the first title not to mention it was one of the fastest selling games to date sellling 3 million in about 10 weeks.

Halo 3 sold over 8 million so far, so in my opinion I think its safe to say that Gears 2 will sell between 6 and 7 million.

first off..you pwned yourself in your post.

second, gears will be a trillogy. thats the reason why we know so little about the story. In Gears you jump right into the action in the first act. I suggest you wait a bit untill gears2 is actualy released before you make such an comment.
