i dont think that MS should charge 800 GP to change your gamertag i think it is very unfair and it is too much GP.
what do you think?.

Yes I do. If it were free, then people would constantly change their gamertags, resulting in confusion. You would never know who was who if they changed their gamertags so frequently
Yeah, people would change their gamertag depeding on their moods. It would be chaos. Good point...Yes I do. If it were free, then people would constantly change their gamertags, resulting in confusion. You would never know who was who if they changed their gamertags so frequently

[QUOTE="hockeyruler12"]Yeah, people would change their gamertag depeding on their moods. It would be chaos. Good point... maybe thatd be an issue for 5 seconds its funny how easy it is to see the problem and so hard to see the solution they could do what they do with the license transfesr and allow you only one change a year or w/e charging 10 dollars to change your virtual name is crazyYes I do. You said it well my friend.
Yer, after thinking about it. It is a good idea to charge, as people would change their name to often. This way our gamertag seems concrete and therefore our identity.
Agreed completely. I was just thinking about this too.Yes I do. If it were free, then people would constantly change their gamertags, resulting in confusion. You would never know who was who if they changed their gamertags so frequently

400 points is a lot more realistic of a price.no its fine the way it is meaning pay to change, but the price is outrageous. i mean, 10 dollars?! i think 5 would be a lot more reasonable
lolnades
i think 800 is a lil bit too much. i agree that they charge cuz u cant change ur name on the ps3. so well if it was for free ppl would change their names like everyday. i have ppl in my FL that change their names like once a month. so if it was up to mei think 160MSP would be a "fair" price. but once again. thats just me.
if you ever need it changed, just get all your friends to file a complaint on your gamertag, the microsoft makes you change it for free
I actually think they should charge people something, just not 800 flippin' points. The only reason is everyone would go about changing their gamertag all the time.
As for everything else, I think it's complete bogus how Microsoft will nickel and dime people for every little thing on market place. I've never bought any gamer pictures or themes because it's just a complete waste of money. Unfortunately Microsoft can get away with being greedy and charging something ridiculous like 400 points for a damn picture, because so many people buy into that crap.
i think it's a fair enough price, if it were cheaper my cousins would've changed their gamertags 3x as much... I hate having to figure out who's who on my friend's list because they create new GTs or change 'em...
or just pick a gamertag you like when you create it and stick with itAvenger1324
exactly. when creating mine I just went with my s/n so friends would know it was me, PLUS I hate GamerTags with numbers at the end... since the GT I originally wanted was taken, :(
i think that they should charge only 200 points or so as i think people that want to change there gamertag all the time, either do it all the time because they have a debit card, or dont because they have never purchased any gamerpoints before.
personally i think a good way of doing it would be that you have to email microsoft with a valid reason why and that would cut the amount of people in half at least that want it submitted.
other than that i thought my gamertag through for a while before deciding so id always like it.

Some people I know now change their Gamertag based on their mood.
The way I look at it (the $10 price tage) is this. People complained and MS didn't want to allow it, so people complained louder and MS in order to keep the piece complied. In doing so they can still make it unenviable to do so by putting the price at a point some people would find to much. At $10.00 a pop it's no longer about changing on a whim but more you're really changing it for a good reason. Perfect.
Personally I don't even think it's needed as I agree with what's already been stated in that it's your identity. When you start letting people change there identity's left and right it not only would become confusing but also open the door for more issues. Like do identity's carry over to ignore list?
They didn't used to charge, but I think once they realized there were a lot of people out there stuck with terrible names like gravyface they would be more than happy to fork over money to have a more sensible name.

Ok I'm probably wrong here. I didn't think they used to let you change them at all. As for the terrible name, if a person thought it was so bad why use it in the first place? Did said person just become enlightened one day and realize there live name really sucked?
I agree. This is one of those things that actually make sense to charge for (I'm looking at you, gamerpics)Yes I do. If it were free, then people would constantly change their gamertags, resulting in confusion. You would never know who was who if they changed their gamertags so frequently

i agree
make it 360ms points
It should cost money but i think you should get one free gamertag change. That way if your like 10 when you create the account you can change it later when your older.

I know what you mean... I used to play Saints Row with this guy a couple years back and he would change his gamertag what seemed like every other day WITH CASH... So I don't even want to think what it would be like if it was free...
I think they should charge; but not that much; I could imagine people changing gamertags every so often if it was free.
I dont see the reason why they would need to charge money to change the name but I think they should get permission

Yeah i agree, the way i see it also is that on PS3, you can't change your name; Want a new name on ps3? need to make a new account. Nobodies forcing you to change your name, maybe they're encouraging you to keep your name but leaving the option open if your desperate :)I actually think they should charge people something, just not 800 flippin' points. I'am guilty of that I wish they would just allow you to grab indivdual pictures and put it into one place and then chage me, that way I don't one good pic and then five crappy ones and have to pay 400 Microsoft Points.I actually enjoy the price it lets me laugh at all of the elitesniperpromlg1337420 guys.

No I think it should be cheaper. I had a friend who changed his name but mispelled it And then changed It so he waisted 20 bucks But I guess that not microsofts problem
20 ms points would be more reason able,
its just a name,
by the way if you dont wanna pay just wait for your account to expire an make a new one and erase that one, duh ,all you ll lose is gamesaves and score ,, w/e can be regained,
if yuu dont wanna pay,
Free change once a year, its a goddamn virtual name it shouldn't cost 800 points. But then again thats for the idiots to buy, i wanna change my name but the price is just too high for me too even bother.
I think 800 is a fair price. In the earlier days of the first console it was hell to change my tag and it wasn't always done for everyone. I was fortunate to change it back then. But at least now they give you an option to change it instead of leaving you high and dry with a stupid decision for a name. 800 is perfect if you are serious about changing your name and too much if you're just jerking around.
