do you think that the GTA franchise is overrated?

Played San Andreas - and thoroughly enjoyed it(except for trying to fly that plane). Also like basically its type of spinoffs - The Godfather, and Bully SE

Are you a non-conformist, don't like rolling with the crowd, like to go your own path among the crowd? Well too bad, GTA4 is going to be an amazing game like every other one in the series. If you choose to not like it or dismiss it as "overrated" because everybody likes it, then you are missing out. This game essentially made the sandbox genre popular, you fail to see what this series has done for the gaming industry.

Maybe you have bad taste in games? Maybe GTA just isnt your genre? Cause obviously you havent given this series a chance. You probably turned a blind eye to this series great features cause your are SERIOUSLY downplaying he game. It is far greater then the *disjusting* way you described it.

I never said it was bad I think it's a decent game i own GTA3 and vice city, and i like lots games that are extremely popular such as SSMB, halo, CoD, bioshock and the list goes on, and i'm not a non-conformist i never said it was over popular i said that it's a good game but people make to big of a deal about this AND other games

i never said it didn't deserve to be popular, I just don't get the "OMG this is the best game ever" appeal

I really found Vice city, and San andreas, and GTA III pretty boring. I played the story missions, they got boring then i went on killing sprees using cheats. I played each one for about 2 weeks. GTA IV will be different, aiming will be different. After IGN's review, theri saying this actually has a good story, theres also multiplayer. So i'm going to definetly get this oneleonhead

now it is pretty amazing if the single player in a game can last 1 night

you cant argue with statistics the gta and halo series are among the top selling games of all time, and gta 4 is anticipating record breaking sales (which i dont doubt it will get). not to mention all the high review scores gta games have gotten. if you dont like the game yourself that does not deny the fact that the gta series is absolutely NOT overated... majority rules :D hschaf

the point of an overated game is one that is hyped to s**t and then comes out and gets s**t reviews and is not like by the population. gta is hyped to s**t yes, but its held in high regard by not only critics but also by the people that play the game. my point was that the entire gta series has been hugely successful and popular after each game release, it has never let down the general population, some people dislike it and dont think its as good as people go on about but the majority of people do, therefore no its not overated. .

I'm not a GTA fan, it's just not my kind of game. But just because i don't like it doesn't mean it's overrated.vendettared468

GTA III grabbed my attention like no game before it or since. I would play from the time my wife went to work at 730am until she got home at 530pm and would often be so engrossed in the experience that I would forget to stop for lunch. When I wasn't playing, I was busy thinking about when I would get to play again. Now Vice City and San Andreas were good, but they just felt like more of the same so I didn't spend near as much time with them, I basically finished them and never went back. Saints Row for the 360 made the sandbox in the city game fun again for me and I'm looking forward to GTA IV quite a bit and the multiplayer could be good. I have high hopes for this one, though I know I can't spend as much time with it as I did with GTA III.......wow............good times..............good times..............

If you don't think GTA deserves the praise, then what other game does? Halo definitely. COD you bet. Orange Box heck yeah. Bioshock without question. Rock Band probably though I've never played it.

San Andreas was a terrible terrible terrible game that Rockstar reshased out the %$%#. So yes, SA was way overhyped and overrated (GS had the balls to give that game a 9 in graphics).

GTA 3 and VC deserved their hype imo.

the definition of overrated is to regard something as better or more capable, or something as greater, than is in fact the case. and would you people quit saying that i don't like it!!!!!!!!! I consider some of the previous gta's a bit overrated, because they didnt improve it that much or add much new. But with this new one it looks like they have stepped it up and it looks to be the best GTA ever! :)

San Andreas (On PC at least) is the most overrated game I've played in an illustrious career of gaming.

I have a review of it if anyone wants to read it to see my reasonings.
