No. If they actually make people kill people and do crimes then those people are already a little unhinged to begin with.

exactly. It may affect certain pshycotic people, but people like me undertsand that it is just a game and this kind of gore in real life would make me projectile vomitt everywhere! Also I think that video games take off some of my anger at the world! You can let out the agression on something thats not even real!

It's the parents' choice whether they want their kids playing those games, and no one elses'.

No, it won't it depends on whom is playing the game. If it is a guy with a mental problem who really want to kill people then you can't blame it on the game you blame it on the person.

The only complaint I have is 14 and under playing these games. Single Player I could give less of a **** But in MP I don't want immature bastards. If you are under like 14, show some maturity. All I ask.

If parents allow young kids to buy these games...that is their bad parenting. And I don't care, all I know is that I would keep my young ones away from them. Until they are older and responsible.

For the most part no. And law abiding parents would know not to give there kids an M rated game, so their to blame if their kid is negetively impacted by M rated games.

GOW... wouldnt call it violent, but anywho people that commit crimes would use any excuse to get out of jail such as:

Its the music that made me do it

it was GTA

it was Manhunt

The list goes on and on and the sad thing is when it happens the parents back up the story just to cover up their bad parenting skills.

No. I think the only way video games affect society is making kids stay in the house instead of running around outside. If games cause them to go and kill people, they have WAY more problems than those caused by video games. And it's the parents responsibility to monitor what games their kids are playing.

Apparantly recent statistics show that the amount of crime has actually gone down over the past ten years. If anything video games are keeping kids out of trouble, because they are causing mischief in video games instead.

So does it have an affect on society? Yes, by keeping kids out of trouble.

Hell no! I've played many violent videogames during my time, yet none give me the urge to perform a violent act! In fact, they actually make me avoid violence altogether simply because they reveal the consequences!

No. They just give all the idiots something to blame. People who go on killing spree's already have some problems, and parents and lawyers etc. have an easy scapegoat to use with video games.

No. If anyone feels the need to act out what they see in video games, they aren't mature enough to be playing the games in the first place.

Everyone here believes that "Mature" games have no major impact on gamers, that concern violence or crime. However, they do have some things that bring our generation down. Lazyness is the major one I believe along with growing obesity.

People aren't made crazy by games. Only by birth or severly traumatizing experiences. Just don't give little kids these games. Problem solved.

Maybe the US Government should look at these threads and pull their heads out of their asses

Wont go on a limb to say games like GeoW has a bad effect on people I will rather say xbox live and any online experience due to many people are gullable to negativity from a persons mouth. Its best to play games from a art perspective and this is why I see a single player experience will never die out cause some people just dont like online play.If online supported more postive people and matured people I will say having an online experience is safe and the way to go.I wont recommend online gaming for the casual gamer cause most of the time you gonna run into hardcore gamers and Im pretty sure you know whats gonna happen next.

think of all the psycho people that were doing these things in the past before video games got to the point they are at now. so NO i dont thnk it does, its a game, thats y its called a game, its the same if you asked does music make people kill others and etc. i think people just like to place blame on everyone except themselves and whoever was molding that indivdual example parents, teachers etc.

In my opinion, im tired of people saying that video games and music cause peple to commit suicide or commit crimes. Its all a bunch of BS. I listen to the hardest of hard music and i have played some really graphic violent games, and not once have i wanted to go out and killl someone or myself. So think about it, if anyone else listens to hard music and/or plays graphic violent games, do you want to go out and kill someone or yourself?

I don't know if it makes anyone any more lazzy than TV does because think about it all games are made up of puzzles or problems that must be solved so its a lot more stimulating to play a game then to sit down and watch The O.C. because lets take like God Of War for example there are parts where you have to figure out how to get a door open so you have to think and come up with ways to do so like moving a block in the right spot to open the first door and then finding another device to open up the second doo. In Gears you constantly have to come up with strategies to keep your character alive and that stimulates brain activity more than any TV show can i think.

Disturbed and violent people are atracted to disturbed and violent subject matter. For most of us, violent games and movies are a mindless form of entertainment. For the few that really are disturbed and violent, these games and movies are a way to act out their fantasies in an enviroment where they can't suffer the consequences. Which is basically 1 step away from acting out their fantasies in real life.

Do violent video games and movies create violence.. No. Do these games and movies stimulate the urge to create violence in the very few people that are violent themselves?... Yes. That is why violent games and movies are not for everyone and the reason why we have a rating system.

YES.

Exposure to violence desensitized us to it. That's not to say anybody is going to go out and kill people or anything. That's an extremist point of view. But would someone that slit thousands of throats in video games be more or less open to the idea of doing it in real life? The honest answer to that is hard for most gamers.

Gaming violence desensitizes us to violence in general. Movie violence does the same thing. Real life violence does the same thing. Any logical intelligent being cannot deny.
