If so, which plan? 2 games or 1?

And the important question, do you think it's been worth it to you? Or if you don't use it, why not?

I'm thinking about getting it, as I'm tired of paying 60$ for a game that's over too quickly, or not even worth it. Plus it doesn't help that out of boredom I tallied up the prices I payed for all my 360/PS3/Wii/PSP/DS games, and I spent over 1600$ on just games in a year. Not to mention consoles/accessories...

i used it and really enjoyed it because spending $22 a month or whatever the price is is alot more convenient than spending $60 dollars for a game when you can beat most games in a couple of weeks or so depending on how much you play. you can keep the games as long as you want and if you get a game that you dont like you can just send it right back and get a new one. the only problem that i had with the service was not getting the games at the top of my list for a long time because they were always sent out and people would keep them forever. but i would recommend trying it out and seeing how you like it because i definitely think it worth it

I don't for two reasons: 1. There's no way I'm going to voluntarily add another monthly bill to the pile when I already drive by a Blockbuster twice a day. 2. I don't rent often so renting from Blockbuster is cheaper.

Yea, I finish most games in a weekend. Plus I already know ahead of time if a game will be worth buying. Most games, like Dark Sector are great rentals, but I wouldn't spend more than 40$ on it. So I guess I'll sign up for an account.

Thanks for that, I'll check it out. Ace Combat was going to be one of the games on my list.

I tend to quit a game and then go back to it weeks or months later, so Gamefly doesn't appeal to me.

I save money by never buying at full price. I buy games used and get most of them by trade, through Goozex (link below!). I trade old stuff back for new games and/or hard to find, older, games. This works great for me, cause I have a huge collection, but am not a collector.

I had the 3 game plan and cancelled. I was happy with the speed of the service. But i was tired of never getting the games i had at or near the top of my list. I had a list of 15 games i kept on MyQ but i never got the games at the top. I always got game 5 or game 7. I had Dark Sector and Condemned 2 at the top 2 of my list since both games launched, and when i cancelled a couple weeks ago, i had never recieved either one, even though they were both listed as High on the availibility list.

That's a good point...

Plus I'm pretty bad about playing games on release day...Do they give you any kind of heads up that the game is out of stock? Is there an update on what's in the mail headed your way, like Netflix? At least if they tell you, I'd hate to be expecting a game and just get something else without warning.

I don't, decided that I don't play enough (with work, graduate school, wife, life, etc) and could buy any new game for ~3 months of renting. I also do not buy most games right after they come out. I am content to wait and see if they live up to the hype and then get them used for at least 10% off plus the discount you get from gamestop.

They are super slow if the main downfall. Normal mail takes 2 to 3 days for others to receive. Gamefly takes 5 to 7 days on their good times. Then takes a day or two for them to decide what to send you next. Which usually are games on the bottom of your Q list even when games in your top are available.

DZBricktop: what I do is keep a separate document saved on my computer working as MyQ, and then just add whatever game I want to the actual list, and only keep that one in there. Sometimes it takes a day or two longer, but I always get the game i want. Mau-Justice, yeah, they send you an email when they've sent you a game or received a game they sent back. Anyway, I have the 1 game plan and I love it. I've had some really bad experiences with the games getting lost in the mail (i've been a member for about 8 months and this is the third time it's happened) but it's hardly their fault, and they always fix it. another nice thing I like about being a member is that if you rent a game and absolutely love it (AKA want to keep it) you can usually buy it straight from them for a lot cheaper than at a store, and they'll send you the case and stuff for free.

Glad I asked, maybe a local Blockbuster is the better choice.

I did but quit recently. They just don't have enough copies of new (and relatively new) games. I'd go for weeks without a new game being sent.

I run into the same mailing problems with Netflix as well. It's inevitable sending expensive Games/DVD's through the mail with a label saying, "Netflix/Gamefly Valuables steal me please". So that's a little expected.

Last question: It still sounds appealing, as I'll be picking games that are a little older. Shouldn't really be stock problems, but is it true that it takes a week to get you a game? I'm used to Netflix, takes about 3 days total for me to send them back and have the next movies in the mail which is pretty good.

If it takes 2 weeks out of the month just getting 2 games back and forth to you, that would make the monthly payment look like a bad deal.

Here's the deal: GameFly has (I think) three shipping centers. One in California, one in Pennsylvania, and another in Florida. I believe they just added a new one for the midwest, but I'm not exactly sure which state it is on.

I live in Miami, FL, so the shipping times are awesome.

GameFly has a deal set up with USPS called FastReturn. Let's say you put your game in the mail today and a carrier takes it. USPS lets GameFly know that the game is on it's way and the next game in your list is sent your way the very next day. Me, being in the same state as a shipping center, it takes two days to recieve my games, so it's worth it to me.

Not all post offices scan them though. I always return the game to the post office. And ask the guy at the counter and he was basically dumbfounded and said never heard of this.

Gamefly didn't offer any advantage over going to the local rogers video, so no, I don't use it.

The 4th shipping center is in Texas.

Their shipping procedure makes no sense to me though. I live in Wisconsin and still get my games shipped from California.:? It all depends on where you live as to how fast you'll get games delivered.

Good to hear, I live in New Jersey, so the PA location is only about 3-4 hours from me tops.

I live really close to Netflix too, that's how they get movies back to me so quickly. Thanks for the help.

I do agree with that. There are a few instances for me when the post office didn't scan them. I blame USPS noobs.

The convinience of the service is relative. I could get upwards of 4 games per month, every month. So it was worth it for me. Without the Tampa, FL shipping center, however, I would have never thought of joining.

Netflix has hundreds. Multiple stations in every state. LOL

Movies are a lot less expensive than games. :\

i gave it a try recently because of the deal they had where it was 10 dollars and you got 400 ms pts. so far hasnt been worth it because i have played all the games that are out that i want to. and the process of getting the game is much slower than netflix or blockbuster online (i dont think it should take longer to get it through the mail just because its a game). but when i go back to college this fall i wont be able to play games as much so next summer i'll probably resubscribe so i can play all the games i missed out on.

Bump. Gamefly is an Extreme Love/Hate Relationship for me. And I also have a few tips for you if you decide to join.

I have the 2 game plan which is better because its practically non-stop gaming, while your sending the one back your playing the other game they send you and it cycles back around. Right now is a good time to join because of the summer deal they have.I get my games really quick, they have a shipping place in pittsburgh and i live in morgantown, WV.

The reason I love gamefly is that I hate going to the video store every-week and renting video games for 8 bucks when i can pay a monthly premium with no surprises then CUT IT OFF anytime i want(the end of my promotion).

Before i joined gamefly I had a trial membership. I ended up getting every 1-2 GameQ games i had up with a large list of about 10 games. So I am a true example: they treat their "paying members" like CRAP, and their trial members like gold. As a paying customer I have found that if you keep a short gameQ list you will receive those games within 1-2 weeks after placing them in your gameQ. I learned this quick because i had 10 games in my Q and received 7-8 and I took every-game out and put in Bad Company, NCAA Football09, and Madden 09 into my game Q. So keep in mind to keep the list small if you Join.

Also I have emailed support and complained that i was treated like crap and all they did was apologize and put $10 Dollars in my Reward account to spend on any keep it now game, so i may take advantage of that. Unfortunately they did not really tell me they would get me my top game Q games first and at a quicker pace.

Finally I just want to say that the idea of gamefly is amazing! I love getting games in the mail and being allowed to keep them for as long as i want. But im very picky and I want the games i want and want them NOW! So ill probably end my membership when the promotion is up.

And if all else fails and you like a game just tell them you never recieved it in the mail.
Of course i think they have like insurance or something, i cant figure it out yet.

Hope this helps good luck

I use gamefly, the 2 game plan. SO worth it, especially if you don't have the cash to blow on some of these 60 dollar games. Good deal!

Right now if you order Pizza Hut online, you get 30 days for free. Just thought I'd point that out before I give my 2 cents:

I personally love it. I mean, $15 a month for 2 or 3 games a month is worth it to me. The only games I buy are usually games like Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3; games I know have good multiplayer and I'll be playing for a long time.

Plus, if you like the game you're renting, buying it usually only costs $40 instead of $60, so you save money there too.

But I do agree with the poster that said they treat the Trail Customers better than the paying customers, but heres why:

They're still trying to get your money if you're a Trial Memeber. They already got your money if you've signed up for a suscription.

So to sum it up, yes, I think it's worth it. Convienent, cheap and easy!

I use to do it, but I like owning games instead of renting them. Gamefly would almost always send me discs that were very scratched and some where even cracked.
