just started playing fallout 3 and it kind of ruins the entire game imo, especially once you get the perk that gives you max AP if you make a kill in vats

its like there is no strategy to it at all, just enter vats, aim for the head, kill and move on which imo makes the game a bit boring but its impossible to survive without vats especially against enemies that also use guns

I don't use it only if I'm close enough to where I know I'll hit the enemy, or if I have a sub-machine gun and plenty of spare ammo.

No, i dont use VATS for the entire journey. Only for the harder battles and for those spectacular kills.

Only up until The Pitt, once I get the Metal Blaster I don't (since it's better out side of VATS) but, i will still use it with a SNiper or something similar.

Just in the beginning and for really far away enemies, you become overpowered in the end and it becomes unnecessary.

In fallout 3 I used it more often than not but in New Vegas I used it sometimes. But I did play Fallout 3 for like 60+ hours and only played New Vegas for like 20 at the most.

I used it all the time, not because I really wanted to, but because it is so freakin hard to hit an enemy if you don't. Seriously, enemies dodge and weave while running fowards or backwards. I get it that they're supposed to try to avoid getting hit, but they do it to the point of ridiculousness. If they make a Fallout 4, that's the one thing I hope that gets improved.

In Fallout 3 I used it 95% of the time, in New Vegas, I rarely used it ever.

Agreed. However, when my husband would watch me play VATS drove him crazy so ... I'd just run and gun when he was watching. :)

Usually I never use VATS but its really useful when doing long distance kills from a far away position.
