The only games that I think really pushed the 360 are Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War. However I am still not sure if there will be games in the future to surpass those titles in terms of graphics.

I believe COD4 and GOW are just the begining. The 360 is capable of so much more. Look back on the original Xbox. It wasn't untill the 360 came out that games were actually pushing it to the limit. Example would be "Chronicles of Riddick".

Well it's been over 2 years since the 360 launch. Isn't it about time we start getting more games that are truly next-gen? What are they waiting for?

I think it's happening. Assassins Creed, Bioshock, COD4, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, and Ninja Gaiden II to name a few.

Judging by the constant slow-down and terrible fram rates of Mass Effect, it not only pushes the 360 to its limits, it goes out of its way to try and murder it.

Many games push the 360 to it's limits, but in terms of has a game come out that looks the best the 360 can produce, probably hasn't happened yet... Mass Effect maybe... But as for pushing the 360 to it's processing limits, happens all the time... Any time the game slows down in frame rate, or freezes up, that's because it was pushed to it's limits... Like in Oblivion... Not the best looking game, but just because of it's MASSIVE scale, there are always times where it freezes up on me.........

Lol, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that like most people, if you play Oblivion, you play it hours at a time... lol.........

Mass Effect seems to be straining the limits of what the 360 can do. It's still the best game to date on the 360, but you can tell that the system is struggling a bit with it.

Best game to date?! I challenge that by saying Halo 3 is better as is Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, and many more games.

Some games pushes it's limits too much it makes your xbox 360 explode. Gers Of War for example the game pushes the lens way far from xbox 360's capabilities and might damage the lens or even break your xbox

Compared to the previous games of the 360, I have to say Assassin's Creed, GoW and CoD4 are the games that have really maximized the 360's capabilities.

The 360 isnt maxed out yet and wont be for another couple years. Developers always find better, faster, smarter ways to develope for a console in time. Its mostly up them how a system runs. You can have a game like Mass Effect that isnt pushing the bounderies, but it has development issues which tend to make the 360 look pushed for power.

But its the delelopers faults not the console. If given proper attention games could look as great as everyone thinks Crysis looks...But it would take time and knowing how the 360 would best use its resources...mho

If Konami decides to port MGS4 if they don't get their money back on the PS3 version I think that game will truely showcase some of 360's untapped power.

Have you even played Mass Effect. The frame rate is only poor on the outside portion of a planet thats only used for one side mission. Also, every Bio-Ware game was issues. This isn't the first, nor will it be the last. They just aren't good with frame rates. Even on the PC their games do this.

Framerate issues are more a sign of bad coding than they are a system legitimately being at its max potential.

A game being laggy doesn't mean the system is being pushed to the limit. It more than likely means that there are issues with the code. I think it's funny that people think that dropped frame rates and lagginess are caused mainly by the system... That's usually the LEAST likely reason.

According to Gamestop, COD4 is what they use to test used 360's before they take them in on trade. I traded in a core for a Elite the other day. The gamestop guy of course had to verify my 360. He stuck in COD4 and said if it loads the 360 is good.

Well theXbox is nowhere near it's limit graphically check it out.

Processor=3 symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each, with acache of 1meg.

Graphics card= An unbelievably fast independent graphicscard that is still pretty much the best you could realistically obtain for a PC today.

It can display 900 million polygons and 9 billion operations a second, thats like a supercomputer.

512mg Gddr3 ram that is 700 mhz,

With the setup like it is , it is conceivably better than almost anyones computer. Short answer is no.

it's not because of the 360's limits it has to do with the developement of the game. With more time they could have fixed that issue.

Call of Duty 4 does a pretty good job but doesn't overwhelm the 360.

I'd say the inevitable Gears of War 2 will make full use of the 360's power. If anyone downloadedthe interview with Cliffy B on xbox live, he says that Gears of War does a decent job of tapping into the 360's power.

I think it'll take time before developers will actually push the 360 to it's limits.

This isn't correct. not at all, not even a little bit. Everygame uses a different amount of resources.

Xbox live arcade games take up very little memory, games with straming content like assassins creed or crack down, will use slightly more resources than a game that loads to ram, such as stuntman ignition or tenchuz. :)

That is very true. Case and point, there are this day C-64 stuff being made that is 3-D and far surpases what the C-64 could ever do on paper. You will NEVER see the 360 pushed to it's limits because the next console will come out. If you know anything about coding then you know that it can be cleaned-up to a almost insurmountable amount. The power is there for both the 360 and PS3, Dev. tools help the most when pushing things but no, you will never see the 360, PS3 or Wii pushed. I have cleaned up my own code for years, it never ends.

Gears of War was the first game to truly "push the limit" of the 360. As far as I know COD4 does not, in fact COD4 is only running at 600 resolution. Not 720 as originally thought. They are using 2x anti-aliasing which allows a game to run at a lower resolution but still maintain excellent graphics.

Well guys i think Gears of war and COD4 were the best looking games so far.

but i think Resindenr evil 5 and Gears of war 2 will showcase the limit of the 360.:)

I'm an old videogamer and in my opinion the killer application fon any hardware platform is a flight simulation. It's all about the massive scale in which the the game take place, about the sense of speed, about the texture and the density of the objects on the ground etc... if anyone has got ACE COMBAT 6 you know what I mean. The game looks gorgeous but when you fly 100 ft above the terrain you can see the limit.

I don't know if Namco push 360 to the edge. But I'm pretty sure that we've to wait another generation of hardware for a photorealistic flight near the ground.

Not the best looking game, but just because of it's MASSIVE scale, there are always times where it freezes up on me.........

no way Oblivion push the 360 to his processing limit because if what you say was the truth Fallout 3 will froze at the starting menu at the release date... If the Xbox freezes it's hardware failure or bad optimization.

Well it's been over 2 years since the 360 launch. Isn't it about time we start getting more games that are truly next-gen? What are they waiting for?Qixote

don't say next gen... it just a buzz word that PR people use

I think the 360 should be called XBOX 1.5. Killzone 2 gameplay footage owns any game on the 360 including Gears of War by a long shot.

I think it's happening. Assassins Creed, Bioshock, COD4, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, and Ninja Gaiden II to name a few. _Suicidal_
Exactly what I thought while reading this

Why did you even come here and comment? Don't you have anything better to do, like being on a board of a console you actually like?

Lol, all PS3 fanboys always fall back on Killzone because most other games have FAILED!! Just cause you see some gameplay footage doesnt mean the game is gona look like that, perfect example is Two Worlds and Halo 3. They looked amazing in the footage, but failed in graphics. So dont even go there with Killzone, wait until it comes out before you judge the graphics.

And besides, if Killzone is like all the other PS3 games, it will get pushed back!
