Does anyone else agree with me that CoD:WaWs veteran can be a kick to the nuts?

EDIT: I finally got past the part I was stuck on, it was a stupid glitch which refused to unlock any further checkpoints, so I had to restart the mission. I am now progressing as usual, and I'm sorry for getting frustrated. But I still believe some of these points are indeed a problem.

I've been borrowing CoD:WaW from a friend for about a week now. I enjoyed the campaign, and I decided I'd try on veteran...

Funny, I used to really like the game, but after playing it on veteran I'm getting really annoyed with it.

Firstly, the notorious spam of grenades. I don't care how many people complain about it, it's ridiculous. You can get 3 and up nades on you at the exact same time, have fun with that. They just throw them nonstop, barely giving you a chance to throw back. Now, some people argue that's how Treyarch wanted it... Okay... Then may I ask why the hell would anyone would even want to do that? Maybe Treyarch got lazy and said "**** tactics and smart AI, just make them throw grenades."

Second, why do your teammates just stand around and do nothing? I've honestly watched them stand back in cover, shooting at the freaking wall in front of them. Most of them won't even try to help, just stand back and shout "GRENADE!" or "SMOKE EM SMOKE EM LOL IM AMERICAN". Also, if you accidentally get in cover in a place where they want to cover, they'll just push you out into the open, and bam, you're dead. I'm not wanting them to beat the game for me, but come on, lend a freaking hand.

Third, the health seems strangely low. Stand out in the open for 2 seconds, you're probably dead. A pain, but fair enough you would die this fast in CoD4.

Fourth, enemies that'll never stop spawning unless you move forward. Great, since your team won't even help you, and your health is low, so you have to shoot the ones alive, quickly book it to the next part, dodge about 38 nades on the way, and wait for your team to go "Well- I GUESS we could help him..." and move up with you. However, someone made a fair point, if they didn't infinitely respawn and your team helped you, you could just wait for them to kill everyone. That's a fair arguement too.

There's a few more issues I could go on about... But I'm really pissed off with this game now. Veteran is not so much about skill or having fun, it's just luck and all the fun taken out at times. I've beaten Mile High Club on Veteran and that's nothing compared to this.CoD4 was a much more enjoyable ride. This is just plain ridiculous. Is it just me that thinks about it this way?

The grenades was the worst part, but everything else is normal of a CoD game on veteran.

yeah i got extremely mad and just stopped with the single player. The nades were ridiculous especially. I also hated having no kill cam because so many times i just got shot out of nowhere. call of duty always seems to bring out the worst in people. Its sooooo easy to get mad in that game.

Considering that Call of Duty 3 was the hardest Call of Duty game I've played out of the series on Vetern(which I've played all of them), it is to no surprise that the same makers would pull off the same cheap components in World at War. Point being... spawning enemies is the worst idea I've had to suffer through. It takes more luck than actual skill requiring a person to try on hours upon hours. At least in Modern Warfare... I actually felt like the reason I was getting through was because of actual skill.

Lol, I totally agree with you. I just beat it on veteran about 3-5 days ago, and wow, it was hell. Once u get to "Burn em out" (i think that's the one), you'll just want to break ur game in half. Also, for me the level called "Heart of the Reich" (second last level) was glitched, and even though I got to the very end, killed all enemies, and completed all objectives, nothing happened. I had to re-play the whole level, from beginning to end.

All of your points are spot on. Treyarch used some cheap methods to make the game harder, respawning enemies, tons of accurate infinite grenade throwing nazis, and BAD teamates. It really does make the game not fun. Treyarch is such a bad developer, the only reason the game was ok was because it used Infinity Wards engine.

Yeah... I keep trying, but I can't do it. Oh well, I guess I'll be returning it back to my friend sooner than expected.

Multiplayer is actually pretty enjoyable, I'll admit, but I don't think I'd cough up 60 dollars for it.

Relentless is definitely the hardest mission in that game, but I just kept trying and eventually beat it. I think if you can almost count yourself lucky if you only get 3 grenades thrown at you at the same time. I think I had 5 thrown at me at the same time in that mission and the strange part of that was the fact that the grenades were all in a circle. I didn't have a chance.

So far I've beaten Cod2, Cod4, and Cod:WaW on veteran...more grenades doesn't make a game more of a challenge, it just gets you killed because you never had a chance. They should really stop with the grenade spam, or at least spread them out a bit.

treyarch and infinity ward do the same thing veteran isn't challenging its just cheap pure and simple. cod games have always been short on the campaign side, but while nade spamming and superhumane accuracy do extend the life of the campaign and requires them to do little to no work i'd prefer if they actually put some A.I. into the game for once. they have veyr immersive stories but the gameplay just totaly takes you out of it everytime because the enemies are just brain dead robots doing the same thing over and over rushing you grenade spamming never ending respawning enemies.

see i never had those problems on veteran. i died alot cuz of nade spams. but for the never ending enemies just move up on the battlefield and u'll be fine at least thats my experience. just don't back yourself into a corner and enemy accuracy sucks if your running. don't stand still and just keep moving. i'm on relentless now. BURN EM OUT was annoying you had no where to go.

The negs you've listed don't just apply to WAW but to all COD games played on veteran. It's damn frustrating at times but I personally feel extremely satisfied once I've completed the SOB.

I agree with you 100% on those 2 levels.

In no way does playing the game on veteran bring the game down. If its too hard or not fun, play it on an easier difficulty if that's more fun to you. Veteran is supposed to be really hard and it does require a lot of skill to beat it, not sheer luck.It ispretty stupid how they spawn in the same spots so it makes it feel like more of learning where they are going to spawn after they kill you the first time, but that doesn't make the game itself worse, it makes the veteran campaign worse. COD4 campaign felt much to the same as WAW campaign but the guns aren't as strong so it seemsa little harder.Grenades are bad but they aren't THAT bad. If you just sit behind a wall and don't shoot anything, they should just throw grenades at you- that's whatI would do to you. Also, you complained about your teammates not doing anything- throwing grenades is about the only they actually are good for.

The only difference from CoD4's veteran is that you teammates in CoD4 are smarter and more helpful. There's not that big a difference.

it is one reason why i don't play games on the hardest difficulty. all they do is use cheap things to make the player die from it. i barely got to far on 4 on veteran. i gave up on that because of how hard the game was.

*This* The enemy AI hasn't changed sense Call of Duty 2, with both Infinity War and Treyarch relying on cheap tactics to make the game hard. Hopefully for Modern Warfare 2, InfinityWard will give us AI that is better than the AI in F.E.A.R. and fair too (no more of this throwing nades right on your location a football field away, and superhuman accuracy crap.), which would be amazing.

I've been borrowing CoD:WaW from a friend for about a week now. I enjoyed the campaign, and I decided I'd try on veteran...

Funny, I used to really like the game, but after playing it on veteran I hate looking at the main menu. Here are some of my issues.

They just throw them nonstop, barely giving you a chance to throw back. Now, some people argue that's how Treyarch wanted it... Okay... Second, why do your teammates just stand around and do nothing? I've honestly watched them stand back in cover, shooting at the freaking wall in front of them. :D Most of them won't even try to help, just stand back and shout "GRENADE!" or "SMOKE EM SMOKE EM :D LOL IM AMERICAN" :|. Also, if you accidentally get in cover in a place where they want to cover, they'll just push you out into the open, and bam, you're dead.

Third, the health seems strangely low. Stand out in the open for 2 seconds, you're probably dead. This is really annoying, and I've played CoD4 on veteran, I'm quite sure I didn't die this fast.

There's a few more issues I could go on about... But I'm really pissed off with this game now. Veteran is not skill or having fun, it's just luck and all the fun taken out. I've beaten Mile High Club on Veteran and that's nothing compared to this. At least CoD4 was fun and a little tough. This is just plain ridiculous. I'm stuck on Relentless, at the 2nd AA gun post, but I've had it. Is it just me that thinks about it this way? To me, it's really a shame, it could of been so much more. A very big round of applause for the people who actually managed to finish this on veteran...

Although I haven't played CoD: WaW, I can only imagine it's very frustrating. I recently finished my veteran run through of Call of Duty 2 (late, I know) and that was one of the most frustrating games I have played. I had played it before on normal and loved it, but veteran is so incredibly tough. Call of Duty 4 was also hard on veteran so I can only imagine WaW is hard too.

Yeah I've got to agree with the OP. The spamming of grenades just caused me major frustration as did the infinitely spawning enemies, it meant certain parts of the game required luck rather than skill to complete.

I've forgotten what it's called but the 2nd to last level where you've got to take down the 2nd pair of the 4 flak 88s was a nightmare.

What really gets me angry is when you take cover in a corner and then one of your allies crouches next to you, blocking you from moving. Then the grenades come and you can't go anywhere at all. Of course when you die the guy blocking you will survive the grenade and stand next to your corpse grinning like an idiot.
