I can't be the only one. I mean, I'm stoked for Infinite, it looks great, but its not Bioshock. Rapture is Bioshock, not some sky city. Honestly, they could have dropped Bioshock from Infinite's title, or gone with its original codename, Icarus, and it would have fit perfectly. I remember Bioshock was confirmed to be a trilogy a few years back, but 2's slightly underwhelming sales might have skewered that plan. I sure hope not, I would be disappointed if Infinite was officially the third part of the "trilogy". Rapture is among the greatest gaming environments ever, it can't be abandoned without one last take.

I just finished Bioshock 2 which is why I'm bringing up this topic now, and oh my god, what an experience. People say there's nowhere for the series to go, and that it should have ended with the original. I highly disagree. Yes, Rapture in its decayed state has been pretty fleshed out, to that I agree, but why not make a game from a different perspective? There are so many things I'd like to see a third and final entry in the underwater utopia do. If they want to do something that would keep the environment from losing its luster, let us play as a citizen when the civil war erupts, while things turn to chaos in the city. Give us an open world Rapture with factions based under Fontaine, Andrew Ryan and maybe even Sophia Lamb. Allow us to to choose who to do missions for, ultimately affecting the game's ending. Who else agrees that they would like to see this? That there should be one more entry in the Rapture series from a fresh perspective? I can't be the only one who doesn't want to see Rapture abandoned. An open world version set during the chaos, not after would be incredible, don't you think?

No. I do not want a 3rd BioShock. I'm ready for a new environment and a new philosophical message. The original was great although it had flaws, but the second was flawed on some fundemental levels. One visit to a dilapidated claustrophobic underwater dystopia was enough for me. I'm ready for the Bright open environment of the sky and the jingoism and pride that follows it.

I would be interested in seeing a Bioshock game that dealt with the initial revolts and downfall of Rapture, but if it isn't about that I wouldn't care for it. There's really nothing left for a sequel that takes place after the first two. Hell, even the story in the second one was a stretch and really wasn't that great.

Maybe on the next generation consoles it would be nice to have a revisit to the city of Rapture. Would you continue the story, tell it from another perspective or fresh new take on it?

What this person said :)

I still need to finish the second one... but I got burnt when the game crashed on me and I had not saved in like 2 hours. Effort.

Yes, i want and will buy Bioshock Infinite when it's released, simply because i 'hope' that it will equal the awe and wonderment of Rapture, but in a stratospheric environment.

In all seriousnes though, i'm glad they have another setting for Bioshock. I loved the idea of Rapture and its background and history but imho, the second one was a little stale in terms of level design. And as far as i'm concerned, i'm perfectly happy for Bioshock to be a linear, story driven experience as opposed to an open world game. They seem to be all the rage now for some reason.

There will only be 1 Bioshock to me. Since they let me down with Bioshock 2, I'm more then willing to let them try something else. I'd rather see something new than see them constantly milk Rapture.

Bioshock Infinite is a prequel. It's set in 1912, this time in a city in the clouds called Columbia, rather than the underwater confines of Rapture. Bioshock Infinite Trailer #1 - 'Premiere Trailer' And enough with the "milking" comments. Just about every successful game has sequels, so this is nothing new. You want to talk about milking...Everyone does it, so who cares.

Pretty much this. Hell, if Mass Effect 2 can be considered an RPG then I'd say the Bioshock series are RPGs as well, simply on a linear path. I want essentially everything Bioshock has done up to this point in a more dynamic, non-linear world. The potential for awesome can not go unnoticed. Somebody has to make this!

I don't think they've actually confirmed that it is a new "universe" or not. There are images of a Big Daddy of sorts in the trailer and it's called "Bioshock", so it wouldn't surprise me if there was direct correlation with the other games.

There has to be SOME kind of relation to the other games. Just the simple fact that they are using plasmids means some kind of connection.

Bioshock Infinite looks way cooler than the first two Bioshock games. The first two were way too confining.

The last DLC, Minervas Den, felt like a more than fitting closure to Rapture. What more can we explore? Weve seen the seediest parts of the city, some of the nicest. Weve explored two opposite idealogies, so what more is there to do that isnt just going to muddy up the continuity? There are only so many Sofia Lamb characters that can be mysteriously lacking only to appear in full force. Besides, all sort of strings were tied up nicely, especially the story with Tennenbaum. For me, that dlc stands at a "Bioshock 3." I just wish people could get over the whole Infinite thing. I love Rapture, dont get me wrong, but one of the things that made the first Bioshock so special for us was getting to explore this mysterious new city. Once people realize this, theyll realize that overexposure to Rapture kind of cheapens it. Im very stoked to explore Columbia. Its going to have the same tones, feeling, gameplay as Bioshock with an awesome steampunk feel. Anyone not excited for it doesnt understand what made the first game (and to some extent the second) so special

Just to clarify something people may not realize: Infinite is being made by the same team as the first Bioshock; 2 was made by a different one altogether. So if 2 was a disappointment/milking of the franchise for you, know that the original devs never wanted to make it.
