If you are referring to multiplayer on live games like Bioshock 2 tend to have activity a few months after release then die a slow death. Every online mode has a half life.
I can still find matches on Bioshock 2, but I haven't tried in a month or two. Not since I picked up Reach anyway. I don't have a clue about Perfect Dark or L4D2 though.
It's been a few weeks since I played L4D2 because I also have it on Steam, and I've been preoccupied with other games as of late. My friend plays Bioshock 2 pretty regularly, but it was a rental for me.
Perfect Dark Arcade has a very slim community. Varies by time, sometimes they are a few, sometimes there are none.
Up until a few months ago I played L4D2 all the time, and there were plenty of people playing. But the The Sacrifice DLC came out, and their servers went to hell. Even weeks after the DLC was released, you could barely play through a whole game without it booting everyone back to the menu. I contacted Valve and they tried blaming Microsoft (even though it was quite obviously a server issue on their part) Haven't touched the game since. Honestly, I don't know if I'll ever play another Valve game after that experience.
I used to play L4D2 quite a bit, but lately I've been focusing on the newer games we've gotten. I'll probably start playing again once I finish playing with Bulletstorm for a while.
