are sometimes not worth playing because there is no *PLINK* sound for doing something out of the ordinary (i.e. an achievement)? This is not a systems wars question. It is more of a comment on how achievements have somewhat changed the face of console games IMHO. What do you all think?kintzerThis is definitely a problem that I've run into and am blogging about right now. When it comes to multiplatform games, I find myself going more towards the 360 version than the PS3 one because of Xbox Live and achievements. I've heard this from a lot of others too. It almost seems that Achievement points may turn into the x factor for buying decisions. I know it has for me.

I dont think i even have time to care with all the games i wanna play :P What is it tho?
Achievement points are points given by games to add to your gamerscore for completing specific tasks, such as completing the game. The tasks are different depending on the game and make you want to play the game in a different manner in order to achieve them.
I think they're such a good idea. I'm getting much more value out of my 360 games than I have ever gotten from any of other games, purely because I want the achievement points.
Sounds nice. I like the ide, but I dont think it would make me want a game more, since i buy alot og games, i mostly dont have time to care about stuff like completling a game in another way ect. But i thanks for the info. Could be nice if i wanna get back and do it again. But do you get anytihng for the points?Achievement points are points given by games to add to your gamerscore for completing specific tasks, such as completing the game. as much as i wanna say achievements are stupid and mean nothing, more then once ive gone out of my way for some...
They extend the life of short games and encourage second playthroughs, and some are just fun, like killing 50 people with a pipe in condemned 2.
