Even if they are in planning stages of a new system, a company would be stupid to try and release something new with such an economic crisis going on. As the economy keeps taking a dive, so do sales in recreational products.
Getting ones parents to spend $60 on a new game isn't so bad, but asking for a completely new system and games to go with it would be a bit of a stretch with lots of families struggling to keep the power on and food on the table. Just my opinion.
This is just talk. MS will make another system but right now it is in the reseach and development stage and won't see the light of day for at least 2 years. The 360 is doing great.3rd party support is great and games are selling well. It is not in first place in terms of hardware sells, but it is in a strong 2nd. The only reason that MS jumped to the 360 is the first Xbox was not getting much 3rd party support and was being killed by the PS2. MS know thay had to cut their losses. The way things are going for the 360, I can see it having a 10 year run.

It really is on a roll. Games are being torn down the shelves atm. :)
MS only just started making profit on the 360 so this is unlikely. Although they may do it to force sony and nintendo out of the way, but it is unlikely.
OXM said they are coming out with a new chipset past the Jasper or well research, could that be what is mistaken. That itself is still a rumor in a magazine.
Who says a company has to come out with a new system every 3 years. It will go the way of the sega saturn if it comes out this early.
Xbox has damage control to do for RROD and its really just going into its stride itself, i could be content with this for a good 5 years, Just keep pumping out games.
I highly doubt that since 360 games are still being ripped down from the shelves at a very fast rate and there are still new 360 games coming out. I beleive it will be atleast 2011-2013 before the next Xbox hits the shelves anywhere.
from what i read in a magazine i don't remember which 1 at the moment but it said Microsoft will be putting out a new console system about every 6 years compared tosony PlayStation and Nintendo every 8 years. reason for this is to keep up with the latest tech in the gaming world plus to out sell Sony and Nintendo. from what i understand why the x-box 360 is out selling the Sony PlayStation. i don't need to mention why Nintendo outselling both, because that's obvious.
Just becasue MS is starting to do research for the next xbox it doesn't mean it will come out any time soon. It takes time to develop a game console so it's just normal "procedour" to start the development 2-3 years before it comes out.
