Does anyone look at the junk on the Dashboard?

Long story short. I hooked up my 360 on release day and thought the blade system was outstanding. They released a bunch of updates doing away with the blade system. I never looked at the new dashboard aside from the Marketplace... until tonight...

All I saw was "Sell you stuff, sell you stuff, sell you stuff, hot girl pretending to like video games, sell you stuff, AWFUL video clip shows, and sell you some more stuff".

Flea markets are more entertaining that the Xbox dashboard is. I watched some show with 2 Europeans on a couch like in Wayne's World called ISENTUAMESSAGE. They were passing dollar bills back and forth and talking about a Michael Jackson video game... As absolutely awful as X-Play has become recently, I would watch a 24 hour X-Play marathon over 2 hours of that garbage.

Does anyone actually watch/enjoy the stuff they put up there? IMO MS should just stick to the selling you stuff part because they are throwing away money on that stuff that's on there now.

Does it really matter? Almost all of the blades are perfectly fine for me, just don't watch videos you don't want too. I almost wish my PS3 had the same kind of system as well.

i agree, its overloaded now with junk. ridiculous characters trying to make xbox cool, i cant stand them interviews and spots with their xbox brandedmics in their hand, trying tocool it up with the kids. its so patronising.

I agree completely. If there was a way to get rid of everything and just leave the friends and games tabs, I'd be all over it.

If they really want to be down with the kids, just hire yahtzee, charlie brooker and the consolevania boys to do a little 15 minutes exclusive review show, bam, instant street cred.

I'm insulted by pouting wiggle-hips as well. The obvious assumption that all gamers are drooling 13 year old boys. Surely they auditioned people.

I only use the Netflix thing..or i download demos from it..that's about it..

I miss the old Dashboard man. At least all my old themes look great. Now, the bottom part of the picture is usually missing (thanks for the bottom part of the new dashboard). I just wish they made a update for people that could come back with the old dashboard. It looked so much better in everyway. I also hate the "Inside Xbox" thing. I know they had this a few months before the new dashboard update came in late 08, but they should scrapped this off as well. It's so tedious watching them. I remember I was watching the ISENTYOUAMESSAGE type of thing (2 guys in the video), and It was so bad that I almost took a puke. Hard to believe all my friends like this stuff, which is why Im never on the dashboard unless It's a demo or DLC or whatever.

I don't really pay attention to it. I'll browse through it to see if there's any sales going on (XBL for $1, Toys R Us sales, reduced prices on the marketplace, etc). As far as the videos and "guides", I never watch that stuff, unless I want to deliberately make myself feel dumber.

i much prefered the old dashboard. the whole xbox "cool down with the kids, get nice girlies to talk about games" is really patronising.

also as someone else pointed out, my themes dont display properly anymore, they are cut out.

and i could do with out the mii rip off avatars, they just lookplain childish. who in their right mind is going to pay for a t-shirt. all that should be free or unlocked via games.

The various content doesnt bother me. The more the merrier. If there charging to be a gold member I appreciate the extra content. I like the behind the scenes videos at the game developers studio

I concur, hopefully soon they realize were not all 13yr old impressionable teenagers playing halo (no offense to the Mature halo players) and that there are some people who actually think for themselves that use xboxlive and we don't appreciate being blasted with such blatant idiocy and adverstisment.

Having said that, it is nice to have some sections informing us of new demos and things coming up, and the other day i even found some free saints row 2 dlc because of the new dashboard spotlight thing so thats always cool, but it shouldn't have to come with a boatload of bs either. I think if MS cares about us (and they should seeing as to how most of us pay for gold accounts) they should let us have complete customization over our dashboards, let us pick and choose which blades we see. Please and thank you!

I got 3 months of gold for 10 bucks off a dashboard deal so i am pretty happy with that. They do add gaming tips and cheats as well somtimes other than that it is ads.

You aren't paying for these videos and no-one's forcing you to watch them.x-2tha-z

Yeah, but if I'm paying for xbox live, I shouldn't have to stare at ads all over the place. It's funny how I don't see any ads on PSN, and I don't even pay for that.

I hate most of it but a few select things are decent.

The only blades I use are Community, Friends, and Game Marketplace (they can have great deals of the week sometimes.)

I do sometimes. But, I think it's annoying that I'm paying for Xbox Live, and the first thing on the dashboard they make me look at is the spotlight instead of what game I have in my tray and my profile.
