Gears of War: Single Player on Insane is pretty easy, just don't duck out of cover for too long and you should be fine. Multiplayer takes a bit of skill, especially because of lag issues.
Call of Duty 4: Single Player on Veteran is very very frustrating but doable, if you have the time and patience. Multiplayer can be very punishing to newcomers, so get good at Single Player first.
Halo 3: Single Player is pretty tough, but is much easier in co-op. Multiplayer also takes a whole lot of skill and fast reflexes.
If your playing against people who are good the order goes like this.
Halo3=GeoW, CoD4. Halo and Gears are equall because they both take smarts and you will normally have to outshoot someone with either a BR or a shotgun. It takes skill to out shoot someone and smarts to make sure you know where they are. In CoD4 it takes smarts to know where someone is and you dont have to outshoot them because there isint really a gun battle in a one hit kill game.
Halo uses sensible match-making, putting players of similar level/rank together.
COD uses a stupid match-making system, putting anyone of different levels together, so a new player can easily find themselves in a game alongside Prestige 10 Rank 55 players. Since weapons are decided before the fighting begins, higher level players have the odds stacked in their favour
Don't understand how people think Call of Duty takes more skill than Gears. It takes more than 3 bullets to kill someone, and you can actually evade gunfire in it.Hitchy9
finally someone that knows the game. LOL. i get shot and run away all the time, even without the health bonus. CoD is not a run in and shoot game. it can be, but then your wasting your chances to get the airstrikes and helis. it takes skill to get the streaks, and if you say it doesnt, then you just have an unrecognized skill.
Halo 3. I think this is a pretty easy game. I am the MVP almost every game. I play alot of team games, even if we lose I still get MVP. I wonder sometimes why I am the best player on the current game when I've only had this game 3 weeks? lol
COD 4 = easy kills. you have to be more careful though. Most guns kill you in 3-4 shots. I noticed at first its a little tough, but once your about lvl 10 you are starting to raise your k/d. The perks also make the game a little more difficult, having to watch for a martyrdom nade, or a last stand guy pistoling you in the back.
GOW is quite difficult on multiplayer. I have played it since it came out, and it has to be the toughest of the 3 in my opinion. It takes some serious skill to pull of a shotty kill when you are versing a good opponent. Maybe the reason its tougher is because its been out longer than the other 2. Who knows?
Rofl. Halo takes the least skill of any game I have ever played. All you do is spray randomly until you get close enough to melee a guy. CoD4 easily takes the most skill. Why? Because you actually have to AIM. Gears of War takes a decent amount of skill, but nothing near COD4. An arcade shooter that actually does take skill is the Unreal series. Halo is a joke.GSU28
Id like to know what matches you are playing in halo where you dont have to aim and just spray people to get kills, I want to play that game type.
1. Gears of War - takes many bullets to kill someone, you gotta be very careful and everyone starts as a noob in the MP
2. Halo 3 - take many bullets to kill someone but less skills then Gears, some people dont start as noobs
3. COD4 - easy to get good in because of the few shots = kill and i started the game with a 1.10 kill ratio. Easy
Most of these games boil down to luck and experience, skill is an illusion. Halo 3 depends on how well you can lead your shots on, use effective combos, evade bullets and use availible resources effectively and quickly. All that simply requires you to have played enough to learn how to use these tecniques. You could argue that a degree of skill is needed to apply them, and i will concede that you need skill to learn them QUICKLY, but over time anyone will get good at halo.
Gears is the same, you need to learn how to cope with the lag, how to play as a team, and what weapons to use in which circumstance (and how to avoid chainsaws) skill is replaced by luck here, as good players will normally do the same things (a.k.a. shotty circles) and whoever hits first or avoids the lag will often win.
I play call of duty the most, but i will say COD 4 is around 90% knowledge of the map and equipment, and about 10% learning effective ways to use each gun. The most skill you need is sniping, but even that boils down to picking your shots correctly.
The difference between skill and experience, in my opinion, is something not everyone can do, you could call skill 'refined talent' creating a memorable guitar riff takes skill, we can't all do it. Playing at the olympics takes skill, we aren't all built to do it. However, learning the guitar takes experience, because anyone can become a good guitar player with dedication and practice, like wise anyone can train to become an athlete.
The difference is separating the good from the great, and in videogames, there is no way to do that, as nobody can reach a point that other cannot (exceptions might be rock band)

Thats not always true, one time, i began the match-making in team deathmatch, i was put in a group of 4 level 10 prestiges, i was in the opposite team, i was level 3 prestige on level 14, and my team won the match with me getting the most kills with a silenced MP5.
Though i do think that Halo 3 and Gears of war take equally a lot more skill than COD4.

Ninja Gaiden also takes a lot of great skill in higher difficulties, believe me, hard mode is like Veteran in COD4, Very hard and Master ninja are only for pros.
Really? I always thought Halo took no skill at all.
When I started playing Gears online I remember I had like 3 kills in 10 rounds. In Halo on the other hand I killed multiple people easily before dying. I always found it to really be more a matter of who sees whom first instead of skill.
I agree with you but i can tell that im not a pro or anything but in halo series i probably have mastered "skills" and i can show you this if you want to tag along in a multiplayer match. My GamerTag is Ali 7163. Gears of War to me whoever gets lucky first. Ok i dont know wht "bullet Lag" is but to me thats what is seems like. Now i can assure you that GOW sniping is the most difficult and if you've have mastered sniping in GOW than you can say that you one of the best players on GOW. Call of duty is all based on who comes to a match prepared with his perks and weapons all matched up correctly. Thats my opinion.

Thats because Halo matches you with other people that just started where as Gears you will get with people who have been playing alot.
halo is the easiest game I've ever played. I don't know why people think it's hard to play. Gears takes the most skill of all the 3 games because it's almost impossible to snipe and it's much more impressive when I see a non host do amazing than some halo 3 player do good.mohfrontline
The way the game looks doesent mean it takes more skill. I bet if you played a pro in Halo you wouldent get a kill.
actually theres lots of ways to kill people in 1 shot with most weapons in gears but its difficult1. Gears of War - takes many bullets to kill someone, you gotta be very careful and everyone starts as a noob in the MP
