Does Netflix look awful, or is it just me?

I was really excited about being able to instantly view my Netflix movies on my Xbox.  Technically, I can, but it looks horrible.  I have a 1.5mbps broadband connection, and an HDTV, but whenever the Netflix application "determines my video quality" it puts it at the lowest setting.  The movies are unwatchable, they look so bad.

Anyway, my question:  Is there some setting option that I didn't see that will allow me to upgrade the video quality?  Or am I just stuck with this?

Thanks in advance.

It's a combination of the speed of your ISP and the quality of your TV.

Mine is working great. I've got standard Comcast High-speed internet and a 23" Samsung 720p HDTV, and I watched the office and weeds and pretty good HD quality. The movie the Ilussionist didn't look quite as good as the two TV series shows, but it was still adequate. I did have a couple problems at first of Netfliz just not playing certain videos, but now it seems to be working fine and the picture quality is great.

Yes, there is a free trial, just click on the Netflix Tab under Video Marketlace, and there should be a link to starting a new trial.

it looks good on my tv. Your connection is slow that is why the video does not look as good as it could.

The connection of your internet determines your quality, your 1 MB a second is...slow. So your quality bar is only going to be at 1. I know this because my roomate didnt want to pay for great internet speed anymore a week ago, and she switched it down to about your speed level because it was cheaper. I got selected for the NXE Preview and Netflix would always put my quality at 1 Bar. I got sick of the slow speed and opted to pay the Internet bill myself and now we are back up to good speeds again, and my Netflix Quality Bar went to max. It is your connection speed.

Nah, it's neither's fault. The Internet is only so capable in terms of bandwidth so streaming HD-quality movies over it is a monumental task... I was watching The Sum of All Fears (2002) and Cannonball Run II (1984) earlier and it did not have HD in either so it's definitely not you. And yes I do have an HDTV.

To view HD content you have to have a minium 3mb-5mb connection with 1.5 thats below so ya your HD content isnt gonna look good and even SD might not look all that great you need to upgrade that connection if you wanna take advantage of Netflix

You got to remember this isnt like downloading a movie from XBL its streaming no downloading so thats the reason you will need 3mb+ connection for Netflix to fully take advantage of it.

1 MB should be heaps to play almost any HD content. Unless you mean 1mb which is only about a tenth of the speed.

It's based on your connection, and if a HD version of what you're watching is even available.

Agreed, if the show you're watching isn't HD then its SD. It's still way better than watching on your computer!

I have an 8mbps comcast connection. I tried watching Waterworld over netflix/xbox 360 and the vidoe quality was horrendous! Netflix shows full bars when deciding the video quality, so I think that means it is sending me the best quality it can (for the movie). I know Waterworld isn't in HD but the video quality was WAY below SD. It was terrible.

My TV is a 1080p 58" plasma.

I love the idea of streaming movies over my xbox, but I can't watch movies with that low of picture quality. Hopefully the technology improves in the future to make this more viable. Hopefully sooner than later.

I wouldn't know, MS are too greedy, lazy and, frankly, too racist to think of anyone outside of their own nation.

Has nothing to do with MS. It is licensing with netflix.

I also have this issue. This morning, I could play episodes from Heroes: Season 1 with all 4 bars and presented in HD.. Last night... No traffic besides the 360 on my connection and I get 2 bars and not presented in HD. I hope this gets fixed soon.

Yep you do then u have 2 weeks to unsubscribe, it's only $8.99/month so I think it's worth it if they start adding more stuff which I'm sure they will.

Yeah me too. Not only that, when I try streaming through the same internet connection on my computer I get full bars, but when I go to xbox...1-2 bars. It must be the traffic, and that p$^@es me off, because I doubt that's going to get better anytime soon.
