I will be getting this game in a few months and am curious about one thing. Does Oblivion reall have over 200 hours of gameplay, like gamespot says?

It depends.

If you just blast right into the guilds and main quest then no.

If you do all the side quests, play around, get the DLC and just have fun with the game then sure.

My Orc has 195 hours on it and I recently started a new game with a BattleMage which I'm sure will get me at least another 100 hours.

i did all the main missions along with every guild except for thieves and i only did half of fighters guild, but i did all the others which is like 3 i think, so in total i did about 4 or 5 full guild missions and did plenty of exploring and i clocked in just shy of 100 hours, 94 if im not mistaken, but after so much time playing one single game i said enough was enough and havent played it since. you could probably put in 200 hours if you got the downloadable content but its still stretching it. you really have to grind to get that many hours in a single player only game.

If you enjoy the game, then most likely yes. I have many save games - one has 130 hours on it. After playing my very first game for 20 hours, I decided to restart because I figured out that I made my character badly. But, yeah, it's an amazing game. I actually played it all summer (a few years back) and the summer after that!!!

Between PC (Xfire's at 296 hours) and 360, I've got over 500 hours in Oblivion. (This is pretty ironic, because I spend a great deal of time on this forum pointing out the game's faults.) So yeah, you can easily spend an enormous amount of time in Oblivion. Of course, that's highly dependent on you're liking Oblivion. If you get bored after 15 hours, well, then you're not going to get 200 hours out of it. If you do like it, there's a nearly-endless amount of content in the game. Even with 300 hours (296 on my Xfire) on my PC character, I have yet to do many of the quests.

well, i personally dont have the game, but in most RPGs, you can get as much out it as you want. It MIGHt be possible to blaze through it in 20 some hours, but then you'd miss out on a whole lot. Halo 3 and other games are (kind of) like that too, since there are hidden places and stuff to collect.

LOL

YES.

Oblivion really does take over 200 hours to complete, that is, if you do everything in the game, then download all of the extra content like I did. Shivering Isles alone took me around 50-60 hours.

I have done every side quest in every town, and bought every house.

When you do this, you end up at 307 hours.

Buy the game. Enjoy the game. It is well worth it.

It's an amazing game. You can easily get 200+ hours out of it. I would suggest getting the game of the year edition, as that has Knights of the Nine questline and the Shivering Isles expansion pack. Adds a lot to an already massive and immersive game.

i have a suggestion to help you figure this out. When you get the game buy nine days worth of energy drinks and pizza and play the game non-stop. If by the end of that nine day period, there are still things to do in the game then your answer is yes. If not well, you had a blast destroying you stomach lining and gaining15 pounds of fat

I did every quest that I could find and think that I ended up with about 180 hours or so. I am not sure if it will be that long for everyone, but you definately get your money's worth out of that game.

if you join all the different guilds and complete the main quest it should take over a hundred hours your first time through. If you play shivering isles in addition to the main game you can easily expect to spend over 200 hours to beat the game.
