Does Portal and TF2 run on Source?

I dont understand wht people say that the grafics in Left 4 dead are bad, they are just like Half Life.

And Half Life Episode 3 will be in Source Engine 2 I think, its almost the same with better grafics, there are pictures of it.

Source is very good, and thats why the PC version of Half Life 2 has a lot of mods. The community knows how to change the game and they make diferent storys with it, check this site www.fpsbanana.com/mods/9

As you can see there is even a mod of Half Life with Vikings, and there is also one that is a remake of Half Life 1.

on topic: yeah. Halflife2 is a very well done game, and the Source engine has not let them down yet. So why fix something that isn't broken?

Yes it's Source, but a heavily modified version of it. Unlike most other engines that get licensed out SOURCE isn't a static engine. You hear about Unreal Engine 2.0 and 3.0, but despite the original Halflife running on Source, you never hear of a new version or see a number after it.

Valve are constantly working on and improving their engine, which is part of the reason why Steam games using it update so often. By using the same core engine, and then tailoring it to the individual games, allows Valve to get a lot stuff tested through existing games. When they wanted to test online stuff for TF2 they were able to update CS:S and essentially get stuff tested through that game without people being aware of it. The same sort of thing will happen with L4D - they will want to get server settings tested, and these will get done through either CS:S or TF2
