Now i know we all have bought a game we were not completely interested in. For example I remember when best buy had that $10 sale, I didn't even want any of the games on the list but because they were $10 i felt like why not. I wanted to know how many of you find yourself often purchases games cause the price is just too tempting.

No. I tend care more if the game is actually good and worth my time over the price tag.

The only times I've bought a game that I was't especially interested in waswben there was a 3 for 2 special going on and I was already considering the third game. The worst one though was when I took back two of themI bought during a 3 for 2 special(they were supposed to be birthday gifts but they didn't work out) and instead of just letting me exchange those for other games, the GameStop allowed me to do that and pick up another free game. It took me completely by surprise, so I just grabbed something that looked interesting.

Now in terms of dissuading purchases, prices absolutely influence my purchases. I try to only pay for the value I think I'll get out of the game, which I usually think of as in hours. For example, Dragon Age: Origins is looking to be a game that I could play through multiple times, each one taking dozens of hours. COD:MW2 is another game that I think I could put a lot of time into the multiplayer, so that too is worth it to me. On the other hand, games like Assassin's Creed 2 or ODST don't seem like they would be worth even half-price to me, as I can't see myself putting much time into either one that couldn't be done in just a rental.

Money influences a lot of desicions on my life. But if you really really want something, like a big flat screen, or the new Left4Dead game coming out, sometimes its worth just looking past the price. Because in the end, money isnt everything.

Although I do believe bungie just did rip me off with ODST. Great game, but not THAT great. They have me on a leash. dang them...

Yes. I didn't get ODST just because I don't think there is enough content to justify a full price purchase. All $60 games are over priced. New games should be $39 or $49. Nintendo can do it. Why can't Microsoft and Sony?

I typically will only buy games now-a-days if they are cheap (IE: less than $30). I will make exceptions for games I want on day 1. My philosophy is that there are tons of games that go for $10-20 that I haven't played/beaten yet, so why not buy those and play those. By the time I get done with those, the ones that I wanted back 6 months ago are now gonna be lower in price. Just a continuous cycle of savings.

Come to think of it, the only game I've purchased for full price this year has been The Beatles: Rock Band (sort of regret it) for $60 CAD. This will eventually change once I get the must-haves of the fall season, but yes, price definitely influences my purchases.

I decided that it's better to wait until the price drops to around $29.99 - $19.99. I have paid full price for one to many games that ended up collecting dust on my shelf. Recently I picked up The Orange Box and Star Wars Force Unleashed for $19.99. I'm done paying full price for games.

most definitely price has a huge effect...there are TONS of games i want to play but wait for them to drop extremely cheap. always keep an eye out for cheap games that received decent feedback from the community.

price is the only thing that determines my purchases. However, i only buy what i know i want to buy so even if there's a deal, i wont buy it unless its a game i know i really want

I'll try out games I haven't been too interested once the price gets lower, but I'll buy a lot of games I wanted to try out once they hit $10 regardless of how much interest or time I really have to spend on them. So I guess price matters. But still, I have to have some interest in them for me to even buy them at that price.

A couple of times I have purchased a cheap game even if I wasn't sure I would like it, and I won't do it again. They usually suck. But generally there are plenty of games that I want, so in terms of price, I just wait a couple months for a drop and then but it. I haven't paid full price for a game in forever.

I look at a game and think about how much time I would spend enjoying it, and then decide how much I would be willing to pay for it. If it is a short 10 hour game I'm not going to spend more than 20 pounds on it, whereas a racing game or RPG where I can easily play for 100 hours or more on it, I am happier to pay full price.

Because in the end, money isnt everything.

TuneSeeker

It really is, though. Unless you're Mr. SurvivorMan, you will not survive without it. Money = life. And the more of it you have, the higher the quality of life that you can enjoy.

Its important to be smart with your money. Of course its nice to splurge on stuff once in a while, because there's no point in living life if you cant enjoy it once in a while, but there's a limit. And knowing how much I like video games, I definitely have to limit myself. Which means that I only buy a couple new games every year, and most I tend to wait a year or so til I can find a cheap used copy. I save hundreds of dollars doing this in the end, and I'm never short on something to play, so its a good deal for me.

I do the same thing with consoles sometimes. I got my Xbox(original) when I found one for $100. I always wanted one, but I already had a PS2, so couldn't justify spending $200+ for a new one. And I plan on buying a PS3 at some point, too, but I will wait a year or more til I can find a used one for around $150(and I'll pick up a couple old, used and cheap PS3 games along with it).

No, I stick to my list and only get the games on it. Now sometimes I might wait fro a price drop on one of them but I don't buy a game that I normally would pass on just because it's cheap.

Rarely. Prices seem to drive sales mainly for older games and terrible third party games. Everyone knows that new games are $60 and if you're not willing to spend the 60 bucks when it first comes out then you wont get it. Marketing can be a wonderful thing.

Price is always an influence for me - but, that doesn't mean to say I'll just buy anything, no matter how cheap it is. I wait for some quality games to fall in price a bit before picking them up. I rarely get games on day of release.

You need some more personal control, I will never buy a game I'm not interested in. Even if they're $10, $5, or $1. I usually also wait a while for new games too, for the price to go down, because $60 is too much for my taste.
