you shouldn't have any problems, just get a warranty and make sure you have a good clearance and ventilation around your console and plug the power box into a stable outlet (directly into the wall, not on an overloaded surge protector)

The fact that you gave all those precautions shows there are still problems with the console. You shouldn't have to be so careful on where you put it, where you plug it in, and how it's ventilated.  Unfortunately the warranty is a must, because you'll be putting it to good use.
STILL, even with the problems the console has, I'd take it over the PS3 anyday.Â
I'm not sure if I'm just lucky or what. I bought mine in August/September of last year and haven't had a single issue.zaphod_b
Lucky. I bought mine in January and had freeze-ups and crashes within the first few days of owning it. I've already had one red light and three red light errors, too.Â
taking precautions with the console in no way indicates that it's flawed, in fact you're assumption that it does is a sympton of your logic being flawed.

That's probably the single stupidest thing I have ever read on the internet, ever. "You should be able to wrap your 360 in 7 inches of rubber, put it into an oven pre-heated to 500 degrees C for 45 minutes and play it while it's baking, after that you should be able to take it out of the oven and immediately begin pumping in high pressure air pre-heated to 750 degrees celcius and this should actually improve the performance of your machine, it's stupid how you can't do these things, microsoft is really screwing us, the customers"
Â
I realize you're supporting the console and everything, but why not try plugging up all the surfaces in your car designed for ventilation then park it in a storage booth just barely bigger than the car itself and run it for 12 hours, see how it works after that.
Just to clarify, what I'm saying is that if you're investing in any piece of technology, you can fully expect to be charged with properly taking care of it, or finding a nice place to bury it.

A surge protector is to protect your electronic devices from surges. i'm sure it's more safe to plug your 360 into a surge protector then a wall outlet.
as for giving the console air and stuff, yeah that would be smart, but you don't have to. my friend has his locked up in a little cabinet and he's had his since like december last year. anyway if the TC is going to buy a 360, just get wait for the Elite.

I honestly think that part of the reason I don't have any trouble is that I have it out in the open with nothing on it or arround it, I don't smoke in the house so the vents are not clogged with dust and tar, and I have never once moved it while it was on... and probably some luck. I am interested to know about these environmental issues for people who have had problems though.
