I use to be dead set againts buying used games but now I buy them whenever I feel like it. The only game that I bought w/o its cover art is CoD2 and I still hate to look at it in my collection. They look ugly but it is the game I want.

why would a used game have less cover art? When I see them in the store they look just the same as regular games, just with a different price sticker on them.

If it's lacking the original cover or manual, I won't buy it.

If the original cover or manual has a sticker on it that can't be removed without damaging the cover, I won't buy it.

Basically, if it doesn't look like a new copy of the game, I won't buy it.

[Edit: Also.. If it's new or used and says Platinum Hits, I won't buy it.]

Yes, because it gives ME the impression that whoever owned the game did not take care of it very well. They maybe never used the case to store the game or lost the case and just tossed the disc around. When I trade in a game, I still have the original case, the instruction booklet and any other crap that was in the case. And I take care of my games and make sure there are never any scratches.

Then where do you put your games when you aren't playing them? I never understood people who do this. Do you keep them all in a CD booklet? Like those things you keep in your car? I used to put my CD's in one of those and would scratch the hell out of them. Maybe I'm kind of OCD on this subject, because I love my DVD and game cases. I have a big DVD case / shelf cabinet that I keep my stuff in. They're all organized neatly. All my 360 games together, with all games and their sequels in order. All my movies together in the same way and organized by genre.

I always look at the case art to make sure they look ok. I always like to have all of my money's worth for buying something and not getting the art with the case would make me feel robbed.

I don't care about the cover art on the box. Besides looking at it and the back when I see a game I don't know in the store, I pretty much ignore it beyond that (I save my staring at pretty game art for surfing the net). All I care is if the disc is in great condition and if there's a clean instruction manual.

I never buy used games for current gen consoles. I do buy used games for older consoles, but I always look for copies that are in like new condition. This can be quite expensive, as my recent delve into the Sega Saturn has taught me. If it's not got the box, cover art or instruction book, I'm not interested.

Ah - that would put me off buying it.

In the UK used copies look just like the original new ones, just with a bit more wear and tear, and the price sticker clearly identifies it as preowned. Sometimes games are sold where the case/manual has been lost, and I would avoid those where possible, but ultimately it comes down to the price.

This is why I use Amazon my cases look great without those annoying stickers. By the way you can bring games with those box arts back to Gamestop and get the real case just have the receipt.

Bring 'em back, really? I sometimes just print out the covers myself, but I've recently ran out of ink. So I decided to come up with my own cover art.

I did it twice already you can ask the employees though if you want. They tell me that if I ever want to exchange the case for a real one they'll do it for free. I just have to have the receipt and wait for a used copy to come in.

I won't buy a game if the disc has a single scratch, isn't in it's original case, case is damaged, box art is wrong etc.

Yeah, I to be able to identify my games just by looking at them, not having to pick them up and actually have to read the title on the cover art that has people on it that look like monkeys. Though I suppose if I was offered a cover sleeve with the game's logo on it that was big enough to see from across my room, I wouldn't really have any complaints.

I try to get the original box and booklet for my games when buying them used, but sometimes you just can't find certain games with those criteria so I just buy them.

It won't stop me from buying it, but it is kind of a factor. Say I'm looking at games. I'm looking for a copy of Halo 3 ODST One copy has the case and it is in perfect condition. One copy has a case but the case is scratched up and torn One copy has a gamestop used case like the one pictured earlier in this topic. When there are copies with the original art, I immediately rule out the non-originals. Then I look at the two. The better ODST has only one little scratch near the legal copy on the back from trying to open it with a key. The bad ODST looks like an attack dog got a hold of it. I will go for the best looking, but if the only copy has non-original art, I'll buy it.

I hate used games, cause sometimes the box art is all messaged up, and scrapped. I also hating tearing off those used stickers, and then that annoying white fuzz that sits there and stares at you. Thats basicly why I NEVER buy used games.

Considering I can buy like 3-4 used games for the price of one new game, I basically ONLY buy used games. There's like 4 Gamestops/EB's in a one-block radius in my town, so if one store has a more beat-up copy of a game I went, I just walk down to the next store.

I don't buy a used game without original (green) box, cover art, and a manual that's in good condition. For most any game, there are several used copies at my GameSpot. Why settle for a ****ty one, when you can get a better one?

I definitely prefer to have the cover art, but it won't deter me from buying it. I've actually looked at a few different stores just to make sure I get it and an instruction manual, though for harder-to-find games I've had to settle for a store cover. Those and gifts are the only reason I don't have actual cover art on all of my games.

I bought a copy of Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and it came in a black case and no cover art or book. It bothered me but I still bought it, but after a while, seeing that sitting in my game collection, I hate looking at it. I almost want to just get rid of it so I don't have to look at it, even though I love the game.I hate when people don't take decent care of their games. I mean, you pay $60 for a new one, why not take good care of it?

Maybe some people's money just grows on trees. Not at my house though.

Used games for me have to look like they were just opened or I won't bother. So, it must have manual, box art, inserts, etc. I'm only paying $5 less than a new game, it better look like a new game. I'm not letting the pawn shop, I mean Gamestop, take that much money from the devs for $5 savings and not look like new.

I hate when I look for a used game and the only one left is one of those crappy cases that the store has. I like to have the actual game case with the original cover art on it for all the games that I buy. Funny story actually, one of my friends bought a game with one of those crappy cases and then went to another store and stole the game case just so he could have the original case.

nope , if the price is fair and the games in great condition ,, ill buy , not to picky on cover art , that doesnt matter, it could be a blank case ill still buy it , , all i care about is the condition of the actual disc ,

or cartridge etc

and if it saves me a few dollars ill buy used,

i do that for most of my ps2 and older consoles , sometimes for 360 ps3 wii ds gba psp ,
