So....here we are, smach dab in the middle of our grand UNDERTOW giveaway for XBL service being as slow as my grandad's pee pee...What does everyone think? I, myself, didn't feel like anything more than a free month of service was needed, but, hey, I'll take a free game instead. But what about you, my fellow XBoxlivians? Does the free game make up for the terrible service? Or, are you one of the few people that got gipped on the deal because you already had Undertow....I think it's time for a poll. Sound off...
I dled it, I played it, I quit. This game is poor compensation for having to stop playing Halo 3 every 15 minutes to reconnect to XBL over the Holidays. Seriously, can you possibly half ass a quick fix any worse than this? First, you screw over half the XBL customers who, for some God awful reason dled this game, by not giving them anything and then saying, "oh well, shouldnt have bought our crappy game in the first place." Second, "You screw over the other half of the XBL customers who were smart enough not to buy this game in the first place.
I mean, come on, give me something I can use. Microsoft points anyone?
Nope - not at all. At the very least, MS should have fixed the problems of XBL before releasing the game as compensation, because I'm becoming more bitter by the week. Plus, it's a garbage game.

It's a nice gesture seeing as how it's a pretty good game and it's a full price live title. I do wish they let us pick ANY one game that we wanted. What if you don't like Undertow? If so, then Microsoft is just adding salt to the wound. At least if you already own it, I hear MS will give you another game. I think allowing everyone to download one of the Xbox titles would have been awesome.
I think they should have just given every gold member a free month of XBL since no one would complain then. But if they insist on giving us a game then they should have given us either Prince of Persia, Castlevania, Metal Slug, or Rez. Or at the very least given a decent game instead of some crap title that no one wants to play. That was their logic for all of this. "So, how do we calm people down and not spend any money at the same time?", "How about give everyone Undertow for free? No one's going to buy that POS anyway. Oh, and only make it downloadable for five days, you know, to cut losses even more".
I have been defending MS on their decision to give away a free game rather than a free month from the get-go. That was right up until I downloaded the game and discovered that it is terrible. I now agree 100% with all the people who said they should just give us free MS points.
Ive busted my wireless headset and damage a battrey pack, So no a $8 game isnt going to cover it, I hate you Ms and all equal or even slightly worse mulitplatform games are coming to my Ps3 now.
well, it was free. And like all free things, it should be appreciated for what it is. Hell, you can't go up to a free sample stand and demand a t bone steak.
Personally, I would have prefered a choice between, a free month, gamerpoints or the free game. I personally don't enjoy the Xbox live games, I've downloaded it, tried it... and don't really like it.
My take on it is at least they gave us something for it. The fact that I actually like Undertow aside, I'm sure there is a clause in the TOS that says they aren't responsible for temporary downtime/issues. The fact that they tried at least some way to compensate people satisfied me.

edit- And for the last time people, it's not as easy as MS giving everyone a certain amount of points. How could you not see the problem in that? People pounding down multiple silver accounts for points and free stuff? After all Silver accounts did get the free game. I know I'm the optimistic one who would think of that, but I'd imagine I'm not the only one who had that idea cross my mind.
The game sucks, and normally I wouldn't complain about a service being down but you guys have to understand I paid money in December to exp X-box live! ANd what did I get? X-box died! Undertow sucks so much they're going to have to import arses from Europe just to keep up with the demand.
People need to understand that giving away free Microsoft points to every Xbox Live user is not as easy as snapping your fingers. It would have taken a long time, which would have everyone complaining even more. Frankly, they didn't even have to give us anything if they didn't want to; they can't please everybody.
i had no real wounds from xbox live because i never really had the problems others were having......if anything this game gave me a wound just from playing it....
I wouldn't know. My Xbox died and I sent it in to MS, haven't gotten it back yet, so by the time I do, the free period to grab Undertow will be over. So because of faulty hardware, I can't enjoy the free game they gave us for faulty online service. Hurray.
