I want to know if you you think videogame violence is a contributing factor for a game's awsomeness. Personally, I don't care about anything (even graphics) if a game has a good gameplay. Like RSV's multiplayer

Yeah. For me, the violence kind of makes the game more realistic and entertaining. It also contributes to the gameplay for me because it just makes it more realistic. Like in Fallout 3 if you go up to a guy with a shotgun and shoot them point blank in the head, their head's gonna fly 10 feet and there's gonna be brains splattered all over the place. If you did that in real life, that's what would happen. blood and gore just make any kind of game with fighting better for me
more blood makes it look more fun. if i put gears of war and viva pinata infront of you,and you never played either of them, which one would you take? Majority must be gears, Sorry Rare. :?
Of coarse it does. Why do you think there are so many kids and teenagers playing Gears of War and Halo. Sure they like it but they like the fact that it's rated M and there is tons of blood and swearing. It's why FPS games are so huge and why every game that comes out is rated M.
It does play a role in some way. Violence attracts gamers probably just as much as a Sci-fi game attracts a certain group. I don't believe it attracts them to the extent of guaranteed success, but in a genre point of view it will help sell copies.

EPIC FAIL. You're not going to decapitate someone with a shotgun. Too much gore isn't realistic.
I'm nota fan of excessive blood and gore, like I consider games like No More Heroes, Madworld, and even Gears to have. But if the game is going to have things like killing in it, I would like at least some blood, even if it is just a little red stain. That way you can at least see that you had at least some impact on the enemies. I do love playing a game online, getting a headshot or something, and then seeing a little bit of blood splattered on the wall though.
I almost alwaysprefer it to be realistic and to be appropriate for the situation.

Rare needs to make a Killer Instinct 3 or something. ya they should relax with the cute animal thing for a while and make some of there Rated M games. Their rated M games are amazing.( same with the others but im just saying)I don't see what's so appealing about violence only in games, the violence and gore is just an effect, without gameplay you have a shallow, gore loaded game. I'm more attracted to games for gameplay, never for violence. If ther eis violence then it's just an added effect, if the game needs, but it's not the by, end all for me.

It depends. (But i said yes). But a game like Bioshock without violence just would not work. It would detract majorly from the environment. You would no longer get the mood about how everything got messed up in Rapture. On the flip side, add a ton of blood to Battlefield: Bad Company. It just wouldnt work. That game is not serious enough. Also a game like Gears, the ridiculous violence that is not serious adds a lot of the fun, and while it may be fun with out the violence it would not be quite as good.

No. In Fallout, realism does not exist. You cannot decapitate someone with a handgun, regardless of caliber. Plus, if you went up to someone with a shotgun and shot their face (in Fallout 3), only blood apprears (horribly animated) and the head, perfectly preserved, would fly unrealistically into the air. In real life, if you shot someone with a shotgun, you would either f*** up their face REALLY bad and see a lot of blood and brains (using buckshot or similar ammunition), or you would create a hole in their head and see blood and brains (using slugs or similar ammunition). On an unrelated note, Fallout 3 sucked monkey nuts.
On topic, I believe violence attracts gamers. I mean, every good game has violence. Every single one. I believe blood, to a certain extent, attracts gamers. It adds a certain level of realism to the game. Gears of War 2 over-the-top blood and gore also attracts gamers, but in my opinion, to a lesser extent. Some people are squeamish, have super-restrictive parents, or just don't like like excessive blood. Same goes with gore, except that adds very little realism in my opinion.

Ridiculous comparison. you'd pick gears 2 just because viva whatever looks and sounds ridiculous.
I'm neither turned on or off to a game by the violence. I also think that the gore makes SOME games more realistic, like Call of Duty: World at War. I've seen enemies crawing on the ground without any legs and it makes me remember the really horrible injuries people sustained in World War II. I also like the satisfaction of a Gears headshot. I think it's what makes me pick up a longshot in the first place.
If the game is about killing and violence I want and expect gore. If the game sucks and is extremely gorey, I wouldn't buy it. So, if the game is about gore (horror games for example) it needs a certain amount of graphic blood and horror. I play all sorts of games overall though.
I'll admit blood gore and overall violence can influence me to buy a certain game but there are so many other factors like graphics and gameplay. I sort of scan the racks for M games first and work my way done the rating system
Sure, I dont want the next Gears of War game to have no blood, but Im not obscessed with the 'bloody' details (no pun intended)
