I want to know if when you watch a DVD in your 360 does it upscale it to 1080i.

I mean because i have a Progressive scan DVD and surround sound hooked up to my 1080i bigscreen HD TV. So when i watch DVD's on my 480p progressive scan DVD player does my TV upscale it to 1080i being that most TV's usually have a upscale that will upscale it. Or does it play it in the 480P progressive scan?

So what I'm wondering am i better off playing the DVD in my 360 thinking it will look better thinking becuaee the 360 will upscale it to 1080i ???

overall the DVDs look better on the 360..I believe it upscales the video, but I know there has been some updates in the past that make the DVDs look much better on the 360 than any other players (eliminates the pixelation and the black looking grey)

We watched the David Mathews band concert in New YorkDVD last night, people thought it was HD....;)

I believe component won't upscale at all except adding progressive scan because of legal issues. VGA or HDMI will though I'm not totally sure that they can do it without the HD-DVD but I'm pretty certain they do but you will need the add-on for Full HD resolution, and to play HD-DVD movies of course :P

In order to do this, you need one of two connections: VGA or HDMI (strait from the majornelson podcast about 37:00 min. in) http://tinyurl.com/2cxcnt

It'll only play at the resolution you've set the console at (if your TV supports it). Go to System blade --> Console Settings --> Display. Change output resolution to what you want as I believe there's already a setting for 1080i. Also, make sure to flip the switch on the back on the component cable to HDTV. Upscaling DVDs requires the VGA cable or HDMI version console/cable.
