yeah it upconverts them all the way to 1080p. and Its not the hd dvd drive that upconerts, its the 360 its self. you do not need an hd dvd player to upconvert dvds. All you need is vga or hdmigagit811

no, I have had an elite since last friday, and 1080p upcoverions for dvds worked out of the box. I also have the hd dvd drive.only since is it's not really close to hd quality. BEcause the image that resides on a dvd is only 480p so it scales it up and runs a filter on it. It's like taking a small photo in photoshop and scaling it up and using unsharpmask.Master__Shake
Is that how it works? I figured it would be like the "Median" filter... because if you scaled it up, wouldn't it be jaggy? Unsharp Mask, contrary to what the name sounds like, sharpens the images. Median averages the colors to smooth out the picture.
