Take pictures of the system, call Microsoft and ask to speak to someone in charge. Calmly tell him what happened, and offer to send the unit in, along with the pictures, asking that the warranty (hopefully--i dont know about freak fire accidents) cover it.
Also, ask for the guys name, because thats just messed up that they keep hanging up on you. They are obliged to at least try to help.
When you call don't give them that story, I mean think of them: they barely speak English but have to answer calls all day where people tell them their problems they're having (most have logical ways of fixing) and then they hear your story...I speak English primarily and if I answered your call I think it's a joke call.
Next time MAKE SURE you say you got yours at launch (even if you didn't) because some of the launch consoles had fire problems. Also don't tell them about your snack (and especially about puring sprite on it)...say while you were playing you smelt something burning, went looking for the smell and then saw that your plug was on fire so immediately unplugged the console. Then once you got that unplugged you heard a sizzling coming from your console and then it started smoking so you blew at it and then it stopped. After a quick story like that mention how you've read about Microsoft's 3 year manufacturer warranty on Xbox360's and were wondering how you could take advantage of that warranty.
If that doesn't work just get your dad to call and sound really pissed off...customer reps of all ages, races, and both genders always cave in under a pissed off man either that or hand it off to their supervisors and then the supervisors will do whatever you want too...as long as you sound pissed off but are still respectful
