I think you just described why people play games... Why should we elaborate what you already know, or ruin what youre hoping to discover?

Try the demo for 2, and then buy the first, THEN get 2, to paraphrase someone else in another thread, you don't get into The Lord Of The Rings from The Two Towers.

True. But never compare The Lord of The Rings to Mass Effect. Never.

A: Someone else said it.
B: I'm not saying they are alike, it's just the most famous trilogy that everyone has at least heard of, now calm down.

Nope, truth be told, Lord of the Rings and Mass Effect have a lot in common. They obiviously both are trilogies, have a group of characters, that even though work together to achieve a common goal, they also have their own personal goals. They both show elements about reality in a no realistic sense, all the religious and political problems etc.
but any how on topic
I enjoy a broad spectrum of games, rts, racing, shooters, rpgs, puzzle, adventure and even the occasional point and click adventure. I would have to say Mass Effect is my favorite series on the console, but you have to keep in mind, I do consider Bioware Gods at their trade and I am really bias towards them
If you're into the genre and the trailers and/or demos interest you, then it'll be amazing. It's gotten great reception as well. Don't expect perfection though.
If you are new to the Xbox I highly recommend getting Mas Effect 1 and then importing your character. It is a much richer experience.

... Well, clearly lots of people think it's a good game. Just because you may end up not liking it doesn't mean anything really. We will continue to enjoy it. You never even stated why you doubted Mass Effect would be good... vashkey

Don't have high expectations is all I'm saying. Ther is plenty wrong with the game, just so you know. If you go in expecting a flawless title, you will be let down. It is way too overhyped. A good game, but don't set the bar too high.orb_03_2006what's wrong with it besides planet scanning?

Well, IGN ranked it as the best Xbox 360 game of all time...
Isn't that self explanatory? Think of all the other games it beat!

You should never build up a game to be perfect. Otherwise you're sure to be disappointed. I knowthat I have been by some recenttop-ratedgames and movies in the last couple of years.
As for what's wrong with it, I have one bigcomplaint. While I think the story is still good, it's broken up too much for my taste when gathering allies and I wish they would have worked that more into the story instead of keeping each character's story separate from the main story.

Why would you buy Mass Effect 2 without Mass Effect? Honestly, what would be the point? Sure, it'll still be a fun game to play, but it loses impact that way.

After playing the demo I had to get the game. I loved it, just get it. It is $20 or less so you don't have anything to lose but about 40 hours of time by playing it
ME 1 failed to draw me into the story, and I grew tired of that game quickly. Maybe I'll grab it for my new pc, I read the game is slow in the beginning and gets alot better later. Is 2 better than the first one?
If you have a powerful PC, there won't be the same technical hitches as on Xbox 360, right?ME 1 failed to draw me into the story, and I grew tired of that game quickly. Well IN MY OPINION Mass Effect 2 (and ME1) and the DLC, especially the later DLC , are amazing gaming experiences and not to be missed. I VERY rarely go through a campaign more than once because there's so many other games to play, and especially a long campaign like ME2, but I've played through ME2 three times, so that says a lot...but hey different strokes for different folks..cant wait for ME 3.
