Downloading games to the hard drive.

I know you can download 360 games to the hard drive and play them off of that (though you still need the cd for piracy protection). I was wondering if it's the same way for original xbox games. There are some backwards compatible games I'd like to play that aren't in the game marketplace but I'd really enjoy it if I could download those games to the hard drive as well. Anybody know if the download feature is exclusive only to 360 games?
