I just finished the Dragon Age 2 demo and it was awesome. Now I just wanted to know if the first game plays the same. I've heard that the combat is slower/duller in the first one.

Oh, and what did you think of the demo?

First, before waiting for the answers, understand one thing: "People complain...a lot". So lets move on, the Demo was really good. The gameplay (for me its what counts to be fun) is very entertaining. I can't wait. DA1 works a kinda slow paced yeah, but still a very nice/long game.

I didn't like the demo. It was just a hack n slash. Since when does Bioware make those?

the demo had a lot of things locked, it's already confirmed that you can switch between auto-attack or spam a button to attack

You certainly can button mash in the first one as well. The only problem is on all but the easiest level you will have your armor handed to you.

I would campare it to a fighting game. At some point you will want to use stratagy and create combos. I found thankfully in the demo the combat wasn't as nuetered as I feared it would be.

I don't know if duller is the right word, but it is definatlly slower. For example in the second Demo, every time you hit the button your character swings. In the fist there is a little delay because you are meant to plan out all your moves with each character. Again I do NOT think the first is a bad game. I would def recommend purchasing it being as the story is great, as well as the overall game. No worries.

DA1 is one of my fav games for 360. I would say the battles take some strategy, positioning and micro-managing your party, but that is one of the reasons I liked it so much. I could see big battles in DA2 becoming a little chaotic(but still fun) judging by the demo.

Jade Empire was like that.
