I've just got it set on normal difficulty and I've tried setting up tactics and stuff but I must not be going about it right because just about every main storyline battle I get into results in my whole party dieing and me running away while calling in my dog and picking off one enemy at a time while wasting about 7 health potions. Is anyone else getting the **** kicked out of them? If not some hints or tips would be appreciated. BTW: right now I'm using myself as a rogue, the ginger as a tank, isabela as a rogue, and some mage to help heal me and it's just not working.gmoneybball91
Always have Anders with you; he can revive fallen party members, dish out health to everyone at once, etc.
Also, always take out the weaker or ranged enemies first as they can be a serious nuisance when you're going for the big guys
I've died only once but a lot of seemingly easy looking battles have been very very edgy. A lot harder than the first one.
I had that problem in the first game for a while. I would be fighitng like 8 guys and me and my pals would get ruined. It always took way to much strategy and focus to fight through a simple battle. That only happend early on though because eventually you get the perfect group of people and your stats and equipment are much better. Just grind through it and hope for better tomorrows.
dont forget to boost ur consitution on ur members. after 12 hours i have heaps of party members, so if i have trouble (only had a little), i will try different combinations of my party. dont forget to regularly check if u can buy better weapons and gear. u might find it hard with one gear setup, but changing everyone's rings and belts and weapons might be enough to give u an edge
Well make sure Aveline(the ginger) is using Taunt to draw in enemies and has on Shield Cover to protect herself. Taunt isn't a sustained like in Origins, you have to activate it from time to time, make sure your Rogue gets passive abilities that increases damage for attacking enemies that aren't locked on you. I would recommend things like Evade and Miasmic Flask for getting enemies off your back. The aggro is different from Origins, Rogues will go after Mages, so you have to make sure their protected, Cone of Cold is a great spell for your mage to have to protect themselves, and Misamic Flask is a good way to look out for them. Unless your an Archer, you don't really need Isabela, you should replace her with Fenris, Varric or Sebastian.
Those guys at range can provide a little extra backup for your healer, in case you yourself cant get to time. Right now, if your dual wielding, your leaving them by themselves, an easy target. Don't forget about AoE spells, while enemies are surrounding your tank, just drop the sky on them, to damage all of them, you can pick them off with your Rogue after. You also should look into the cross class combo's, their not as easy to do as the spell combo's from Origins, but you can get the hang of it. One of my favorites is, Cone of Cold to make enemies Brittle, Fenris uses Scythe which does massive damage against Brittle enemies, but also Staggers them and then I do Fist of the Maker, which does huge damage against staggered enemies.
Ok so set up the tactis manually with minus 50 health pop a health potion and minus 25 mana stamina with mana or stamina potion so you party can always use its skills.
Replace eye candy isabela with Varric and stick a frost rune on bianca
Step 1 - Use Fenris
Step 2 - Use Varric
Step 3 - Win
Seriously though, I use Isabela, Fenris, and Varric with my Warrior Hawke and I haven't had any trouble of any kind. I'm beginning to worry that there isn't any challenge to be had in 2. Have you done lots of sidequests, checked shops for armor upgrades for your companions, added runes to your equipment, changed out your companions accessories (I find myself neglecting accessories sometimes), etc?
I'm on hard difficulty and so far it's been pretty easy. And I switch around my characters. Right now I'm using Fenerus, a rogue archer, bethany, and varric. I did play the PC version of the first game so that could explain why it's been easy. Not to say everything has been easy, however. I am stuck at a boss right now. Not going to spoil it.
i have downloaded the first one on my pc like 2 months ago because all the "zomg, this best rpg, ect" so i went ever i got bored of it quick. Yes iike rpgsk2theswiss
Your party setup might be messed up ... i myself Play a Rogue then i use Tank (Aveline) Healer Mage (Anders) DPS Mage (Merrill)..So you will need a Rogue,Tank,Healer and DPS could be Merrill or Fenris....On you skill tree make sure youuse all the Stuns and Staggers and on your tactics set so if Anders is being Attacked that Merrill will petrify or Freeze them and Aveline will Taunt them. You have to keep Anders alive.
