I'm having my fingers crossed for the 360 slim (if it comes out) :PI've never really been a fan for system re-leases, unless the new version of the system is substantially different. If a slim version is in the works, it'd be a great buy if it comes bundled with Natal.
Nintendo has been the father of re-releasing systems, since the Gameboy... Each new version was substantially different, however, the gameboy advanced was probably it's biggest leap, as it was actually a new system. The gameboy color added color, but many games weren't as bright and vivid as the GBAs. IMO, the GBP and GBC were a waste of consumer cash, but nintendo managed to cash in.
Nintendo did again though, with the DS. The DS, then the DS lite, then the DSi, then the DSiXL, and now the 3DDSi. The 3DDSi, can be a large flop easily. 3D in it's cheapest consumer form doesn't really enhance a gamers experience at the moment. I don't see this as true innovation. All this new 3D tech on the market seems more like corporations trying to make more capital off of consumers in the least expensive way.
I don't think that 3D is the future of gaming.
I do believe that Natal is. All though Nintendo and Sony have precise motion technology, neither of them do what Natal does. Natal actually removes the controller from the game, and puts the user into it. I can imagine RPGs making good use of this technology. Creating true virtual worlds that gamers can interact within. Maybe a light sword and shield combo to enhance the experience, but over all, natal stands on it's own, even the games aren't initially tailored to the hardcore market.
I'm looking forward to seeing several games at this years E3.

I would also love to see Half Life 3, a full sequel to Half Life 2. Half Life 2 was released right when Video Cards became power consuming monsters (the introduction of the PCI Express interface). Now with Quad Core Processing, and Quad GPU's, I'd like to see something truly push my machine (other than crysis)
I would also like it if MS could resurrect some old games, such as Age of Empires (all of em'), and various other PC titles that don't work due to OS issues. Black & White 2 was a lot of fun. So were the Movies. (Niether published by MS, but lost a market because of MS) Both of these games were developed by Lionhead studios, and none of them are compatible with windows Vista or higher. I know, it isn't MS responsibility, but these games could find new homes on the XBOX 360 potentially. Perhaps MS will announce a USB keyboard and mouse interface in their next system update for the XBOX 360... I hope they, and their competitors know, that their consoles aren't just sitting in people's living rooms. It's on someones computer desk, hardwired to provide the best gaming experience truly possible. But, these are just dreams.
