OK so as you probably read, they are buy the companies. EA is only interested in the Mass Effect franchise from the BIO side anyways:shock:. Now there is probably a chance that ME is a time exclusive knowing EA being such a money sucking leech. there is even a chance of them buying Ubisoft after that little stunt the pull not that far back. EA just becomes more and more shady, who now what they are gonna pull of next.

Bioware are one ofthe most innovative developers of wetern RPGs, and the only company I will buy a game from just from faith. Because till know I knew the BioWare name meant it was good, and finished.

I just hope that neither BioWare or Pandemic go the way of some other company aquired by them. Westwood, Bullfrog, Origin..

I dunno. EA might feel like a parasite sometimes, but they could still let them do their own thing. Thay'd have tohave the most idiotic buisness sence to buy companies because they have a reputation for games that are good and try new things, and then reduce them to annual buggysequals with *Censored* support.

The docs at BW have alawys made a thing about making games the best they can. I know they've been owned so far by Elevation so might not have a say in this, but they probably wouldn't be so happy about it if they were'nt being given some freedom.

Or at least, that's what I'm hoping.

I might spoken to soon, but yeah I mean, I do have to give EA props for releasing skate, they took a big chance and they succeeded, but now that ME might no even be an exclusive, which is no big deal for me, but EA being the publisher it can mean the games sequels cannot be as good as they can be.

I doubt is like that, I think Bio own the rights but since MS is publishing, it remains exclusive to the 360. Like Gears of War. Hopefully, at least ME will remain exclusive, and sequels will be multi.

I dont know... you may be right. It would be a real stupid move on M$ not to secure those IP's for there console. But.... Ea stated that they own those franchises and if they say they want to make as much money with Bioware as they say they are Mass Effect and Jade Empire have to go multiplatform. I'm a littel fuzzy but Ea said they were going to make a killing with Bioware next year. One years time is not enough to make anything new so... my preditcion Mass Effect and Jade Empire go multiplatform. Only time will tell.

Never mind you were right, I don't mind that it goes multi, as is almost finish and EA doesn't have control over the game until next year. What I'm concerned about is the fact that most likely the sequels will be held back because of shady business.

Its happend before and if they dont get the time/creative freedom they need I'm sure it will happen again. If EA has the good sense to leave Bioware alone they could continue to flourish but I doubt it. At the very least I expect time constraints to be put upon Bioware if not ceative infringment. That just seems to be EA's buisness model.

When Black Isle died we got Bioware, Obsidian, and Trokia. heres to hoping that if EA kills Bioware it spawns simular studios.

They made MDK: 2 for the PS 2, that was their first ever game.

They have used famous IP's for their games too, Forgotten Realms, Star Wars.. But now they are standing on their own two feet. Or at least were. Now EA will probably cut off those feet and try to sell them.

What i ment was, never made a followup of there own games. And using things like Star Wars is more possible outside of EA. since i dobut LucasArt wants anyone but them to publish the game.

The thing is I don't want the BIO games to disappear or to be developed byEA's developing team. OOHH GOD Please NO!! But if bio stays, most likely the things you wrote will happen, and we, the consumer will only get mediocre to average games.

They can't do that. Then they have compotition. I won't be suprised if they bought the BW half just to own the Mass Effect Ip, and Dragon Age too. Nopw they own it, they can squish the company and drive them into the ground so they can't buy themselves out, and be compotition again.

That is my guess too. I bet that EA will make Bioware put out games earlier (as in 1-2 years). While that doesn't mean their games will suck, it will mean there games overall will be lacking in terms of content and everything else.

I hate EA, but i've got to say Burnout is good (made by Criteron and published by EA which is why it is good), but i don't want something small and just replability based like Burnout coming from Bioware. Of course EA said they picked up the companies to fill in the genres that they weren't making. So if they picked up Bioware for RPGs then i think it may turn out ok.

I was just trying to point out there is hope that even if EA screws Bioware over the truly creative people at the studio will move on and form new and innovative IP's under a different name. I Almost cried when Black Ilsewas disolved but a lot of the talent fromBlack isle went on to from Bioware, Obsidian, and Trokia and I've loved a lot of the games from thoes studios although Bioware got the majority of the talent. Same with Origin they went on to form Digital Anvil and made a few good games after that althogh the space opera seems to have met an untimely death IMO.

I hope Bioware survies but it wont be the end of good western RPG'sif they don't. True talent will move on to where it can flourish.

This company is so Money driven, that they don't realize that the gaming industries need to appeal toa broader audience, and when making moves like this, IT just hurts theindustries as a hole.

Am I the only one that doesnt see this as a problem? EA has released lots of good games this year. Im not worried that they will continue letting Bioware do their thing as long as they bring in the cash for EA.

This is almost as bad as learning when Interplay died. I mean Bioware I almost in a way grew up with there RPG's as they were consistient and offered great games. Infact I think I remember key devs from Interplay in Bioware when it first started. So who knows maybe the same will happen to Bioware.

P.S correction it was Black Isle that went to Bioware, And people from Interplay went to Black Isle(Correct if wrong) so I mean the dev team is not against making new companies it seems and getting people to surrport them.

^^Hopefully. While I don't want the games to disappear the best option will be for them to open up their own shop. I don't care it they are multi, as long as they keep bringing the stellar games. We will have to wait and see how EA treats them and see if they provided them with enough freedom so they don't have to hold back and bring either incomplete games or mediocre games.

That is true. Until the deal is complete then EA will have bought the rights, they will have say over it from then on. they might not even let BioWare continue the trilogy. I don't see a reason they wouldn't but it's within their power.

I wish it was true, but BIO owns the right to the franchise, Although MS will publish the game it will only be for 2007. When the deal is close next year, the rights to Mass Effect among other games will be owned by EA.

Its been so long its hard to remember. IfI remember right asome of devs left Black Isle for Bioware. Interplay(publisher) owned Black Isleit died andmost from Black Isle formed Obsidian(also under interplay)which is still alive(under Atari)and some of Black Isle went to Trokia which died after Vampire bloodlines. Black Isle and Bioware colaberated on Bauldars Gate(at leastI remember both names on the box)and planescape torment(licensed thegameengine from bioware if Irember right). There all so tied together its hard to keep it sorted out. and of corse Interplay kept the fallout IP and sold it to Betseda except for th mmorights so i think all the major westeern RPG devs have managed to get in bed with each other somehow.

I mean Vampire:Bloodlines was so fun and im a girl who hates vampires but that was one vampire game I got behind. I mean it was like belivable not like Ann Rice(please dont hurt me). Put ya I think with this great over view we can see how if someone like EA does push they will all laugh and form up a new company imagine if all the great devs of Baulders Gate,Fallout, and Arcanum, and Planescape torment all came together on one project yum.

Though on a side note.Im happy the devs are fighting to get the mmo rights for Fallout. I mean the main devoloper has already said they had no choice in selling of fallout and it felt like his ex wife brought his childeren then murdered them. So really I think im almost in fear of seeing how Fallout 3 is. If Bethesda ruins it im not sure I can forgive or not throw the cd's of the game at them outside the building.

It's the one case when In-breeding was a good thing. :P

lol I love it

Chaism I hear ya on Fallout 3. I'm trying to remain optimistic that it will be more than just Oblivian with guns. I hope Bestheda will listen to the series real fanbase.

sorry for all the bad typing guys I cant seem to hit the spacebar tonight. Or spell for that matter.

Anyway, I can't feel to bad about this. If EA don't screw up, this could be a good thing. But now I'm concerned for the MMo BW are making..

And I just realised, where's the love for Pandemic guys? Did we forget about them? Heh, I hope they're left intact as well.

Another side note. Fallout 3 will be fine, so long as Bethesda allow half the choice you could have in the first. I mean, finding out how toassasinate Mr. Bishop? That was a pain. And not exactly obvious.

Well I think its true if EA does this right maybe they will be turing over a new leaf trying to do thing rights for a change. Pandemic Im not really at the moment what games they made I think Kill Zone but do not quote me on that. But I agree I think EA may be thinking of a way to get there image back maybe?

P.S I think having half would kill the game myself. I mean it was not easy but that was the point. Killing Mr.Bishop had multiple ways I mean in most missions you had 20 or so ways of dealing someone or in the least just slaughterting the entire town and slaving them out. Though I think they may be on the right track losing the overhead view point is iffy. Also what lore they are using is also iffy I mean the mutant threat was already widly died but the era of this game. Yet they still have it seems mutants in mass quanties.

So from a Fan's viewpoint it is like watching your favorite puppy being beaten to death with a wiffle bat. It may imeditaly die but you question rather it was a painful death or not.
