Seen this as well, it's a joke. The only reason I get demo's in the first place is to see if the game is worth buying, but if EA actually pull this off, I'm guessing me and alot of others won't buy the demo's, resulting in not buying the game. EA's lose if you ask me.

I'd never pay for a Demo, but i won't let it upset me either. Just not paying for it is the best you can do to fight it.

Paying for a demo? That's like paying for a free sample.

Completely false, I have no idea how you got every single thing wrong in the article

1. It's not from EA, an analyst guessed that would happen

2. What the analyst guessed is that a part of the game would be able to be bought ahead of time like the co-op only Battlefield 1943, then a few weeks later people would have the option to buy the rest of a game

All you're doing here is spreading false rumors around that help no one understand what's really going on

ok, i see your point , but the tagline was "EAconsiders charging for long demos " under their concept you pay for the demo then if you want the game you pay more , similar to xbox arcade . and i understand this is comming from pachter.but with EA's money mongering track record it's not inconcievable.

It's nothing like that

EA released Battlefield 1943 for Live for 15 bucks with only a multiplayer component

Later they released Battlefield Bad Company 2 (with free DLC by the way)

Now was Battlefield 1943 a demo? Of course not but that's what this analyst is calling it

I realize that a lot of the people in the world are ignorant, but hopefully not enough to fall for this. I don't see how EA apparently got the idea to try this out from Battlefield 1943. Sure it only had three maps, but it wasn't a demo.

Even if they did charge for demos, you don't have to buy them. If it costs as much to rent a game as to buy a demo, go rent it. Idc if they charge because I won't pay for it.

Kinda like Gran Turismo 5: Prologue ... lol.

Can you blame them? They sold 4 million copies.

Paying for a demo wouldn't be bad if they had some way to credit the demo price off the purchase price of the game when you bought it. Then the demo would basically be free if you purchase the game.

Battlefield 1943 is a full (arcade) game that was only ever supposed to be multiplayer. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a completely separate game. What is your point?

to be honest I wouldnt be suprised if they were thinking about it, but ultimately they wouldnt dare, for one thing no ones going to buy a demo second the competition would use it to slaughter them

My point is that is what this article is about

Battlefield 1943 is a demo according to that analyst

So in the future EA will make more games like Battlefield 1943

Anyone thinking this has anything to do with a demo does not understand the subject material in any of the articles.

I could see companies charging a small fee for demos that people get to play earlier. Like, for a couple bucks, you can play the demo to Amazing New Shooter 8 on Monday instead of Friday, when everyone else gets it. You know if did this, a horde of mindless scooter cockgoblins would be out there, throwing down 200 MS points to play half of a buggy level.

So the only people that would end up paying would be those that didn't like the game? That'd make downloading a demo almost the same as deciding to buy the game.

I'm not in any way in favor of paying for game demos. I was just trying to think of a situation where you would "pay" for the demos without it being so incredibly terrible. Now obviously paying for the demo of a game that you do not even end up buying would be crappy, but paying for a demo regardless of whether you buy the game or not is even worse. I'm trying to look at this from the perspective that the demos have to be paid for and rebates can be rewarded for a new game purchase of the title.

If this happens, I will only buy the games I know and like. Stuff like Battlefield, Medal Of Honor and Burnout for example. If EA pull this off the only other game I will buy besides the ones that I already know and love is ones that interest me... for example, another WWII FPS game or something.
