I've been checking out the info on Bio Ware's upcoming title Mass Effect.  I think the game looks like its taking RPG's to the next level in leaps and bounds.  Just curious on what other peoples early opinions are? (I remember a guy on here telling me I would be disappointed with my purchase of the 360 because sony has the final fantasy franchise and no other PRG will ever compare, I think he might be mistaken)

Final Fantasy?  Meh, I never liked fighting from a menu.  FF's combat is dull and tedious, as is the grinding that the game requires.  As for Mass Effect, it looks very good.  Bioware's taking the whole light/dark decisions to a whole different level.  In their earlier games, like KOTOR, each path was clear-cut, a toddler could've made out the good choices from the bad ones.  Now, however, it seems that the choices that you make in the game will be much more complicated...

Well it's all a matter of opinion, but in mine, Final Fantasy could never even hope to compare to Mass Effect or any other game Bioware puts out. I mean, on one hand you have a game where the entire (70% atleast) time consists of you watching a CGI movie about effeminate teenagers and their problems. On the other, you have a game where you are given free reign to visit any planet you want, talk to anyone you want and how you want and pretty much do anything you want. And all this is still supported by some of the best storylines games have ever had. So I think that is basically a no-brainer. But like I said, it's a matter of opinion. As for early opinions, this game is definately set to be one of the greatest RPGs of this generation. Bioware is really raising the bar, and I don't think it will be surpassed until the next installment of this epic trilogy comes out.

To be fair here FF was made awhile ago and at its time probably was the greatest RPG out. Now though things have changed with new systems, and with new, more powerful systems, we are able to do bigger and better things as is with Mass Effect. If the PS was this powerful back then who knows FF might be like Mass Effect is going to be... In my opinion i will always like the FF series. Still though i cant wait to play Mass Effect. I know its going to be awsome with this new style of gameplay (well not new but revamped). Ill definetly be getting this game when it comes out. Hopefully Huxley also holds up to what they are trying to do.
