eBay 360 fan mod.

I am looking for an xbox 360 on ebay because I broke my trusty Halo 3 edition . The one I am looking at has a fan mod on it. I heard that this can be detected + banned from live, is it true? Keep in mind that I will NOT use it for the cheating/10th prestige/piracy mods, it just has a fan.

dont get it if they modded the fan when you dont need to mod any fan. i got an exterior fan on my 360 and doesnt effect anything but the air flow

The fan mod can't be detected as far as I am aware and isn't labeled as illegal. If the firmware on the system however is hacked there's a chance you'll be banned. Just make sure the system your buying only has the fan mod done to it and nothing else. But still you're better off buying a $250 brand new system and making sure it's the jasper model. The odds of it failing are extremely rare and it'll still run 2x cooler than the fan moded system.

I don't think MS is sophisticated enough to know what kind of fan the 360 has used or is using.
