It's the best disappointment on any console. I hated the story, the voice acting was mediocre, the characters were lifeless and dull, they took out a lot of weapons and armor for no reason, they took out a lot of guilds, and I preferred the older combat. Woohoo stab, stab, and then block. I liked how my stats affected the combat. Oblivion is an alright game that's fun but I grew bored of it.

Fighting is also pretty broken. If you get better spells or you just keep using invisibility nothing can even touch you. Also, nothing is memorable about the characters or about the world. Like Fallout 3 it is a big world filled with mostly nothing but bland environments. It's the best disappointment on any console. Best RPG on any console? Of course not. It's not even the best on the 360 or PS3.
It's up in top three for me. I can't determine exactly which one I like best though. But IMO it was so much better than Fallout, though I didn't care for fallout much at all. Hopefully they fix a few issues that I had for Oblivion in the new Elder Scrolls V.
Oblivion is the best RPG I've played. I bought it the day it was released and played it exclusively for the next couple of months. I never play one game for that amount of time. I usually get bored after a few hours or I'm playing several games at once (not literally). I bought and played through all of Oblivion's DLC too. I even bought the spell books. I didn't buy the horse armour though. It was over 200 hours by the time I stopped playing Oblivion. Recently I've been getting the urge to play it again but the 360 doesn't handle Oblivion too well. The slideshow framerate when you're outside exploring, when the "Loading Area" message pops up, is very annoying. I put up with it in 2006 because I had no choice. Now I could get one of the better versions.x-2tha-zhow did u get it a day before it realesed?
While a great game, I wouldn't consider it anywhere near the best RPG. It was weak in both the character and the story department. I remember playing it and thinking that the Mage's guild had a better story. It was had great gameplay and was a lot of fun to play, but it didn't suck me into the world the same way that a great RPG would, like Mass Effect.
Oblivion is one of my favorite RPGs from this generation...and one of my all time favorites. Oh and trust me, but you'll need this.
