Eternal Sonata, is it good?

Eternal Sonata is an RPG masterpeice.

Its the 2nd best rpg on the 360 so far in my opinion (only mass effect is better)

Its got an amazing story, fantstic soundtrack, great characters and fun fighting

For the 360 it's one of the better RPGs. I've played many RPGs and I can honestly say it's mediocre. Great concept for a story, but poorly executed. Great battle system and music though. It does also have some rather impressive graphics at times.

Its one of the worst games Ive ever played. It has very annoying characters, and no depth in gameplay. Give it a rent if you must, personally I was disgusted with how bad the game was.

Lack of depth in gameplay? you obvisouly havnt played the game... your fighting changes depending on if you are in shadows or not. The fighting is pretty deep in my opinion. I can understand your not liking the characters but to say the fighting isnt deep is just plain wrong, its one of the games strong points.

And where is your gamertag? all i see is a ps3 gamertag up

Its in my profile, how can you consider the game deep? You just button mash until you can perform an ability attack. You have a couple when standing in light, a couple different ones while standing in the dark. Maybe the game would be interesting if it wasnt turn based. Id say you would be better off with Blue Dragon, it has annoying characters but atleast the combat system has some depth and it has exploration.

Well there is why you dont like the game.. its turn based and you just said "It would be better if it wasnt turn based"...

Its not that the game is bad, its just your prefference for RPGS is non turn based.

Well there is why you dont like the game.. its turn based and you just said "It would be better if it wasnt turn based"...

If its turn based, it cant also be a button masher or its pretty boring IMO. It should have atleast the amount of depth a final fantasy game would have. All you do is move your characters behind enemies and button mash them to death, and since its turned based they dont move until your turn is over. Then the computer poorly controls the enemies to try and do the same to you. This is made even worse since there is no exploration to be had and taking a picture of a few monsters gets you enough money to get all the best weapons and as much potions as you need.

Those videos are awesome! I got to get this game.

My god, it's the worst 30 hours I've ever spent. I rented it for the week, wanting to like it. I liked Tales of Symphonia, and I was hoping for this to give me something to play that's like it.

Don't keep your hopes up on that one.

The names got annoying fast. Polka, the main character, was one of the most annoying girls I've ever heard speak, and if you've seen my dating record, that's a huge accomplishment and not in a good way.

The story... There are no words to describe how terrible it was. I played through the whole thing, before anyone starts tearing into me. I know you will, but just one less thing. Anyway, back to the story. You go through the whole time, with Frederik Chompain or something (forgive me for the spelling errors) saying over and over again that it's his dream. And guess what the twist is? It is! Gasp.

Also. The love interests. At one point of the game one of the characters says that she loves another one. Want to know how it turns out? So would I. Never touches it again. Maybe it is in some sidequest, but I used those characters along with the main one whenever I could, and nothing. The second love interest is between the two main characters. A 16 ish year old and an 8 year old. I'm not sure, she could be 10, but that's still really weird. Up to 14 would be weird. And then there are some flirting midgets who fight about who's taller... I don't care what anyone says, it's not funny, and it gets oldfast.

My last point. The acheivments. You get 10 points for every ending of the chapter or whatever it is, and I forget if it's 50 or 100 to beat the last boss. Now, I played through it all, as I've said before. I sat through the whole damn ending, and all the credits. No acheivment. This is more of a personal thing, I don't know if it's just mine, or if other people have it, but that pissed me off. 120 GP for the 30 hours of play. And the rest of it, you have to play through it all AGAIN! No words can express the joy that I had when I learned of this. Anyway. Bad game. Rent it if you must.

Ive not played many RPGS? hahahahaha, ive played thousands of rpgs in my day there buddy.

Been gaming since Atari and NES, Eternal Sonata is a great RPG, we have differnt opinions, no need to bash because yours is differnt then mine.

Eternal Sonata is the 3rd best RPG this year in my opinion (1. Mass Effect 2. The Witcher 3. Eternal Sonata). I just enjoyed it alot, especially the story

imho, its not a bad game

just with all the other great rpgs out there, ES is just a mediocre game in my eyes
