i've never heard of extensions, you could plug it into a hub, and get another cord to go from teh hub to your router, or by a longer ethernet cord.

Well, I know they make connectors. I don't know where to get them, but my roomate left to go to the engineering department at CU when we were trying to hook up our 360s and came back with some. Small, grey, boxes where you can plug in a cat5 cable on one side and another on the other side. I guess its a no-brainer. However, they are out there!

no lol ethernet cables r ethernet cables.

i'm sure u can find some ethernet cables that go long. i'm sure best buy has some long ones i would suggest u measure how far u want it the cord.

the ethernet cable that came with my 360 barely reaches mine to the router but i got it to fit.

Go to monoprice.com I got a 50' cat 5e cable for about $11, they also have longer ones. The extension you want is called a coupler. Those are around $2. It looks like the same coupler you would use to connect 2 phone cords together, just a little bit bigger. Best Buy's cable is $42.99 for 50'. Monoprice customer service is great and the quality is just as good. If you look around the forums, they are highly recommended.

Just buy a cable long enough to reach, no point in fiddling about with connectors and extensions.

Ethernet cable comes in large reels that can be cut to length and have the plugs fitted. If you go to an electrical supplies shop they are more likely to have it on a reel and be able to fit the ends, so you get one just the right length. Otherwise go into a regular store and look for ready-made cables in set lengths

Monoprice.com is the s**t when it comes to cables and such. I got an 8 foot hdmi cable for 8 bucks (can't beat that) But in answer to your question, you can either get a longer ethernet cord, or you can buy a coupler to connect 2 ethernet cords together. The later is only usefull if you happen to have 2 ethernet cables lying around ( as a coupler only cost 1 or 2 bucks) but if you only have 1 ethernet cable and are looking to buy a coupler and another ethernet cable, you might just want to purchase a longer cable for simplicities sake.

Also, if you wish, you don't have to buy the xbox brand wireless adapter if you want wireless gaming. You can just buy an ordinary wireless adapter and uses that (though you should probably save your receipt in case it doesn't work or something)

The maximum cable length for CAT5e (Ethernet UTP) is 100m per segment, most online "specialist" retailers will be able supply 10 or 20m Cables or if your feeling brave you could buy a roll of cat5 cable some rj45 connectors and a set of crimping tools and make your own :D

I guess your in the States, if you were in the UK I could recommend some suppliers.
