So what are your thoughts? I think Microsoft has it underwraps until E3 but if they dont have anything it will be a long year for them. I really hope they have some good exclusives at E3.

they got to have exclusives. its one of the fattest reasons why people buy other consoles.

you think if halo, gears of war and GTA L&D were multi platformed people would take a chance with this console?...No.

so if microsoft doesnt got anything to show for that opens a lot of doors for sony

I could care less if they have great exclusives or not, I love the 360 way more than the ps3 and I don't think that will ever change.

I doubt we're going to get much more. The only exclusive that looks like it's worth anything for the rest of this year is ODST, which is basically a game from 2007 with a different campaign. Don't get your hopes up people. If Microsoft had much else they'd have likely announced it already.

Bungie's working on ODST and they already said that the earliest they'll announce their next project is late this year(which leaves no hope of it coming out this year). Gears 2 came out not to long ago, so don't expect another Gears game for a while. At least not this year. Robot Entertainment will likely be to busy handling post launch Halo Wars to do much else this year. Rare just released Nuts and Bolts not long ago and they typically take their sweet time with each game, so don't expect anything from them for a good while. Lionhead just released Fable 2 not long ago so don't expect anything from them for a while. It seems Mist Walker has pulled support from Microsoft as they've canceled Cry On and seem to be moving toward the DS.

I'm not seeing anything happening this year unless Peter Jackson surprises us showing that he's actually been doing something with the Halo games he's been working on for years.

if nothing else we're still getting some pretty good multiplatform titles.

Was 2008 really that amazing? I only bought two 360 exclusives, compared to PS3's three. (Wii only got one purchase from me.)

Who cares if a game is exclusive or not? You should just be happy that good games are coming out for the console you own. But anyway there is the possibilty of Alan Wake and Splinter Cell and Velvet Assassin is also coming out this year, but I don't know how good that will be.

If you consider the fact that all the previous exclusives were released so close together it's not too surprising.

Don't tell me you're actually worried about something MTV news brought up! They are so innacurate and they even shift words around for more dramatic stories. Don't worry, man. Plus, even if they did lose their exclusives because of cross-platforming, all they would be doing is giving the exclusives partially back to Sony! Hahahaha.

Sure, without exclusives, Cows and Lemmings would be noting, but I truthfully could care less. I'm fine with Halo Wars (for now), and good games coming out for both 360 and PS3 don't bother me; it's all about money, and that's important to companies right now (that's why Mass Effect 2 isn't a 360 exclusive) Besides, we're only 3 months into the year; we still have 9 to go

What happened is that Microsoft started this generation off by buying multiplatform parity (and in some high profile cases, exclusivity). Sony has retaliated by making a whole bunch of exclusives in-house. Sony has more established franchises, Microsoft has higher profile ones. XBOX is like a boxer who throws roundhouse punches, while Sony is jabbing away. Expect some major announcements by MS, because they need to do better than Halo ODST to compete with Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and Sony's crown jewel, God of War 3. Also, a lot more people own PS3's now as compared to 2007. Playing COD Modern Warfare 2 online for free is a very legitimate reason to buy the game for that console. A 60-40 XBOX split would be a big Sony victory.

Knicknutt that's total speculation. Also I'm not convinced about your "whole bunch of exclusives. Wait for e3 January-March is a relatively dead period remember?

well microsoft are bound to have some hidden exclusives under wraps, they always do. they just usually wait until a few months before release before annoucning them. if it was sept/oct and nothing announced then its time to worry - theres too many big shows yet for annoucnements - early days yet

Seeing as how they bought the rights to exclusive DLC for a few games i think that goes to show that they dont have much in the way of console exclusives in the next while.

This is kind of a side note but... I really don't care much for PS3 exclusives and my Wii is gathering dust. That said, even if the 360 doesn't have many it puts it on an even playing field with Sonys machine... and since I already have the 360 I don't see as it's going to matter much. Of course having a few big named exclusives would be great, but have a ton of great multiplatform games is far better.

it really annoyed me how the ps3 got my favourite game ever and with extras, i mean bioshock should have stayed with the 360 and pc as microsoft exclusives coz now we have nothing. unless they announce gears of war 3 at E3

I've never understood the importance people place on exclusivity. As long as the games I want to play are released on the system I own I don't care what other systems get them as well.

Not necessarily. I just like the 360 as a console a lot better than I do the other two current-gen consoles. I like the features and design of the 360. I am sure they all have their strong points, but even if the 360 had no exclusives I would have chose it over the PS3 because I like it more. That said, I am sure there will continue to be exclusives on every console. And, I am sure that many multiplats will turn out better on one system than another sometimes. The 360 has a fanbase, the PS3 has a fanbase....if the Wii can continue to have a fanbase then you know what I'm saying is true.

Well Microsofts 2 main exclusives are Halo and Gears and this is a Halo year so the hype machine for ODST should go into effect soon since Halo is Microsofts main exclusive. Theres also Forza 3 that I believe is supposed to be released this year, as well as the the next DLC for GTA4. Splinter Cell Conviction may release that year and I believe that may be exclusive as well and seeing how popular and how great past SC games have been, id call that another big exclusive for Microsoft. Thats 3 exclusives already known and were still yet to have E3 where others are more then likely to be announced. Its not even like a company typically releases a ton of exclusives in a year. Just a few marquee ones that hopefully deliever.

Oh no the great games might not be exclusive to the system you own.... tragic.

Seriously if the game is great, you should be more concerned about the game, rather than its platform choice.

yes but I bought the 360 for the games and if it doesnt have any exclusives then I would just buy a PS3 since it would have the same games plus games that any other would not have so stop saying it doesnt matter. I bought the 360 thinking there would be exclusives and there were but now if this is true then there is no reason to own it and would be better to have just a PS3 since it would have the same games as 360 and ones it wouldnt Im not trying to start a war over which console is better and I am no a PS3 fanboy as you can see from my gamertag. I am just stating the facts

i guess MTV didn't read this http://720games.blogspot.com/2009/01/microsoft-we-have-lot-planned-for-2009.html Speaking at CES last week, Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft's Group Product Manager for Xbox 360, said Microsoft's policy with the Xbox 360 has always been to under promise and over deliver and that we should expect a lot of titles for the Xbox 360 this year that we aren't currently aware of. "Yes, it's a big year for Halo fans starting with Halo Wars and then Halo 3: ODST, but if you look back at January 2008 when we started the year you'll see that as a company, our philosophy is that we try to under promise and over deliver," Greenberg told G4. "We tend to save things until they're much closer to being ready to be brought to market, and I think that that is a little different than traditionally how this industry has worked."

^this.the 360 had a record breaking year last year(in terms in sales!) If anyone thinking that MS is gonna sit back and not let any exclusives and survive through the year with only multiplats and ignorant. to the TC if i get mass effect 2 and DR2 and FFXIII get release this year i'm good.

Mass Effect 2 and Alan Wake are both exclusive on console, 360. But also on the PC. They also have franchises such as Gears and Halo. and Splitner Cell games have never really been an exclusive. And look at the site it was reported on, it looked like something I made in my spare time.

Halo 3: ODST, Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake and I'm almost 100% they will announce a sequal for Conker Bad Fur Day exclusively on the 360
