I recently bought an Xbox 360 (a used pro model), and it has no hard drive. I was looking in to buying one, but they seem a little pricey. Then I remembered that you can store data on usb flash drives. So my question is: Can I use a thumb drive as my main method of saving (including downloads and LIVE stuff?

Sorry, I'm a Xbox noob :P

I dont see why not dude, you'd probably need at least two or three 16 gig ones to make it viable but you could ... mind you I would consider second hand harddrives from a games retailer, MS drive (although massively overpriced) are at least reliable so they are a good buy second hand

Well seeing that one of my flash drives got mysteriously reformated, I would suggest caution as you wouldn't want your game saves to be lost

Yes, Microsoft opened up the ability to save to USB storage devices. Just make sure you get a good speed one (most new ones today should be fine).

I believe the max USB you can use on the 360 is 16GB. That's what the console told me when I had to format my USB when I attached it.
