It blows my mind as to why anyone gives a damn about this series. Why does Peter Molyneaux say hisFable games are epic andcompelling? There is zero customization, any decision you make in the game is totally pointless. You can get married... for no reason, you can have kids.... for no reason. You can own property- but there is no equipment to buy- none of the clothing gives any bonuses.... None of the features do a damn thing, and they make no difference in the game at all. Fable is beyond shallow. Two Worlds was better than Fable, and its a slideshow. Now,

I couldnt believe it either- Fable 3 had EVEN LESS customization then fable 2. You can only customize your weapons... which there are what, 10 in total? This game is so damn shallow, I couldnt believe it. You dont even level up and distribute points anymore with exp orbs. I blew through the game in 8 hours, didnt die, never even used a potion. Your decisions mean totally nothing.and Peter Molyneux has totally dissapointed me once again.
Does anyone agree?

You should blog this, but yes, I whole heartily agree. The fable series just went downhill after the first one which was a good game. I remember Peter promising open end world and this and that but he would never deliver. Take it from me, huge fan of the first one and then hearing about open end world and then playing the second one... I played the third one for about 45 minutes and realized that it was even worse then the second one with absolutely no depth. Fable 3 is a terrible(sorry fans.)

i havent played the third yet but i was quite disapointed with Fable 2a nd i doubt Fable 3 improved much. Fable one was such a great game too so its a shame.

I don't really know, Fable II and III aren't that great, I hope that if there's a IV that there is actual armor (Not just mostly clothes) and that there'll be a reformation of the Heroes Guild. Fable II and III are decent games, but Petey needs to take a note from the first game.

I actually am really enjoying my F3. If your looking for something interesting to so, try to see how many wives (and kids) you can have at once and keep them happy, that s always interesting.

Fable 2 is a great rpg game with a great story. Of course I still haven't played past the part after you collect the coins but I am getting around to it. I really like the game from what I seen so far. I just got a bunch of new games right now like Left 4 dead, Halo 3, and FF13. So its taking a back seat to those games right now. Also gotta finish up Blue Dragon and Enchanted Arms.

Fable is above average so good reviews seem fair enough, I think it should drop all the adult content and be for kids though because they could easily play it. I don't understand why it gets so much hate though to be honest? clearly a lot of you must see wasted potential in it or something or we wouldn't see so many topics like this, I think I can agree with you on that at least.

I loved what I played. I beat Fable 2 and played Fable 3 for a couple hours. There isn't much to do once you beat it three times. As far as an epic defining game, no. It's not perfect; but I love playing them. They're kind-hearted games that aren't trying too hard to be serious. It's a mellow game many people can enjoy.

Fable 3 gameplay in its self is pretty good but overall it seemed that nothing really had any effect on the outcome. I was very disappointed after completing this. I am glad I did not spend too much time on trying to do alot of stuff because it would have just been for nothing. Playing AC Brotherhood now and it is so much better!

Working on 3. So far, I'm really liking it. Finished the first two. They have a charm to them that most games really don't have. Mechanically, they're solid. Narratively, they're ok, but touch on plots that we've all come across at some point or other. The way they're presented, the plot cliches are less rehash and more homage to classic fables.

Character progression is fine. Mission progression is good. Are the game perfect? No. But I think they do more right than what they do wrong.

For the Fable franchise, it's all about presentation, which it really does well.

Thats the problem. It keeps getting more simple so it sells more copies.

I can understand. Older gamers want something more mature and a deeper experience. I'll admit that it doesn't have that. It's simple, but that's why it's easy to enjoy. It's easy to enjoy, but offers nothing beyond that. That's why I haven't bought it. I'm borrowing it. I learned from my mistake after buying Fable 2.

Older? I'm more inclined to lean towards mature rather than age. Quite simply, a sense of accomplishment that your time was not spent wasted is really what people want out of games and this game for the most part does not deliver on that simple fact.

I was just using "Older" as an example of who would like a more mature game. Not to say older folks won't like it. I'm 18 and I like the immaturity in games; so long as it isn't too crude.

I don't like how Fable 3 is a watered down version of 2. For one its the same thing, but with jobs that are too easy, no offline money rotation, lack of effort, and just silly quests that arn't worth the time.

It did, however, give the main character some voice so thats good. Other than that its as the OP said a shallow version of 2.

Fable games are good games, just not great games. They are good to spend some time, but don't expect to be amazed at its awesomeness.

I love the fable series but I will admit that it has gone down a little bit since fable 1 like how you can't be extremly evil and grow huge horns but now instead get a little pair of wings and seethrew horns I mean come on I play fable too be evil and I want my horns.:twisted:Anyway I still like fables combat its pretty fluid and smooth but fable 2s was way better. And the reason it gets such good reviews is because a lot of people still like it.

i really enjoyed the first fable, was disappointed to say the least with the second, was hoping for a reprieve on the third... your right, the third fable was a huge let down. it almost gives the impression that they think we are too simple to leave the customizing to us the player. i definitely wont be wasting my money on a fourth.

I almost feel like I wasted my money.......The story was slopped together and quick....like 8 hours. Another thing is WHAT DO I DO NOW? I finished the story and now I can quest...for what? Where do i get if I quest...seems pointless.

As a fan of Fable I'll admit that I'm still waiting for the game Molyneux promised before the first Fable. They have been underwhelming and I can totally agree that they have been shallow and there hasn't been much depth or consequence to player's actions. That said I did enjoy the first and second games. I spent a good deal of time with them and found the combat to be fun and it helps that the environments are really something to see. I think of them fondly. They're not perfect and I think the majority of reviews point that out. And while my list of gripes about the games are as long as anyone else's I do think they have their virtues. They are games more for people who like the experience more than the challenge; the choice over the customization.

Fable is... FUN for me. Where games like Fallout start out so slow I want to claw my eyes out, Fable throws you right in. Its not as deep or as engrossing as other RPGs, but it is fun. At the end of the day, that's all that matters. If I were to review it, Fable 3 would get around an 8 from me. Spectacular? No. But I enjoyed it.

I've played F2 and 3 and enjoyed it, but I think its more of a 'girly' game. Its my little sisters favourite game, she's 13. My husband and brother never even bothered with it.

I found it a fun game to play - battle was to easy though.

gah! its so terrible. The only reason I bought 2 and 3 is because im still riding off the great game that was the first Fable, hoping I will feel anything remotely similiar to the feeling I had when playing the first one. But still....nothing

to me it felt like fable 1 had more content than fable 2 (cant say anything about fable 3 b/c i havent played it yet)

fable 1 was such a great game, loved every minute of it. i wish peter m. would go back to what made fable 1 so great.

the fact that you didnt die in fable 2 (you just popped back up after you lost all your health) was the last straw for me in fable 2

I do the same thing... its more of a sims game than a proper RPG. If you play it as a straight I need to beat RPG you will be dissapointed. But as a sandbox it is quite fun and engaging.

Personally, I'm a fan of the games. The first is the best by far, but II and III are very satisfying as well.

I don't know why the fable series gets such good reviews. I played and finished fable 1 and 2. I was so disappointed with fable 2 I decided not to even think about playing or buying fable 3. I think some people would not have bought fable 3 that bought fable 2. just a thought.
