Do you care about graphics ?
Are you a guy who likes to customize his character alot ?
Do prefer replay value or are you DLC kind of guy who will pay for add ons if you have to ?

You don't care about which one is more fun and has replay value ?
I like Fable 2 much more. But it's all really a matter of opinion. I think Fable 2 is longer, but neither game had much replayability in my books.
I haven't played Fable 2 yet, but I didn't really like Fable. I had to push myself to get through it.
For me I hated Fable, but I bought Fable 2 about 2 weeks ago and was blown away. It is very good in my opinion. I would say buy Fable 2.
Definitely Fable 1 if you dont care about the dated graphics. Fable 2 was a huge letdown. Fable 1 had all the nostalgic moments that Fable 2 lacked. F2 is a really shallow game, with a clunky and laggy menu, and terrible run and walk controls, no character customizaion, so you're stuck with weird looking faces, and I could write a whole blog about it. Definitely Fable 1, hands down.Elian2530
I most definetely agree with this young man
Fable/TLC by a mile. 2 and 3 dont even com close.
literally just posted this minutes ago:P
Fable/TLC was pure awesome
Fable II, pretty good
Fable III, not so much.
The First was perfect, you could legitimately choose mage, archer, or warrior and they were pretty balanced. you had Mana that depleted as you used spells, and the Spell system was perfect, even had a health bar, none of that screen turns red crap. all the clas.ses were balanced enough. tons of customization. combat was great. you were not forced to use flourishes or other special means to kill a simple bandit. whereas in its successor, almost every enemy could block every one of your attacks, aside from Flourishes, which took forever to charge up, leaving you open for your enemies to slash away.
Second one, was alright, i like it a little better than the third. though i dont care for the modernization aspect of the game. No bows pissed me off. i hate the guns. they completely messed up the will system, to the point where it was almost impossible to be a pure mage without dieing, or should i say, getting knocked out. sword combat was meh. flourishes took too long to charge, leaving you open to enemy attacks. hardly a visible healthbar. saw it every once in a while.
Third one, worse than the second. still has a stupid will system, if you can even call it that. used gauntlets. not even possible to be a mage in this game. no real sense of leveling up and growing as a person in-game. annoying clunky combat. boss fight was bad. the whole treasury thing and being king, needs to be explained a bit more. like having enough money for troops and such.
The Fable series has gone downhill since the first game IMHO.
Never played Fable 1 as I didn't own an original Xbox, but I did play the first few minutes of Fable 2. Didn't care for it.
They are both good. However I enjoyed the original Fable more. Play it, it's downloadable for a small fee from XboxLive. There are a few glitches playing on an Xbox360, but they are nothing major, occassional sound clicks.

if you can find it at a store or something, get Fable: The Lost Chapters. its basically Fable with added content. its what Fable was supposed to be.
The Fable:TLC on xbox marketplace is actually just regular Fable.
