and i thought burnout paridise was overwhelming. I started playing fallout 3 today and its awesome. when i got out of the vault i was completely overwhelmed open world and very big areas to explore. its gunna take me a while to get a handle on the game anf figurre everything out. but i have a few questions:

1) is there a way to put a map/compass on the screen while you play? like COD

2) is there a way to switch weapons without using B and going to that screen with all your equipment?

3) Can you travel to distand areas without walking?

1- no, the compass appears at the bottom of the screen. 2- yes, when on the weapons screen you can assign weapons to the d-pad and switch in game using the d-pad 3- yes, provided you have already visited that location.

1) You mean like some sort of radar thing? Nope 2) Go to your weapons using the menu, press X (or something like that, it'll say HOTKEY at the top right of the screen, press that button), press the D-pad in the direction you want, and when you exit the menu just press the direction on the d-pad again to equip the weapon. 3) Yes. After you visit somewhere, open the menu and use the right trigger until you get to DATA. Use the d-pad to scroll over to WORLD MAP. Click somewhere that you want to travel to and you'll get there without having to walk. You have to be outside though.

Even when you have been to a location and can fast travel to it, it is still worth looking around the wasteland, as there are many things you can find that are not marked on the map. One of the main things I like about Fallout 3 is that you don't have to do the story until you want to, and once started you can just as easily put it on hold until you want to get back into it. there are far more places to explore that have nothing to do with the main quest, and add a lot to the game.

1. you can set markers on the map which show up on your compass 2. there is a quick switch by using the D-pad 3. only after you have been to that place before. you must discover it first. It is a lot easier than you think once you get used to everything so just keep playing

Well the questions are answered but I felt the same way when I first played the game. In fact, i did not like the game until I got use to the VAT system and I loved the side missions. Now i am addicted to the game. Once you discover certain places, the game gets easier to travel.

playing oblivion helped with the first hurtles. My biggest problem was sheathing a weapon.. Later found holding X worked.

So the game is definitely worth the cash?

I assumed so, but just wanted to check, I've been looking forward to a good gun-based RPG (I am aware of how the action works), and just thought that this would be too good to be true.

Have you played the DLC yet?

When I first got out of the vault I had no idea what to do. You just have to explore a bit and have some patience and then side quests and other fun things will start popping up. Really fun game once you start quests and exploring.

It was a great experience when I first played the game but I can't exactly say I was overwhelmed. I was overwhelmed in Oblivion though sense it was one of my first 360 games.:P

dont worry, i felt the exact same way with this and oblivion, but just give yourself some time to explore, learn the game (armour, damage, people, quests, skills etc) and ull be fine. itll take some time but its worth it, also i can recommend the prima guide, will help a tonne

With the questions answered, all I have to say is congratulaions. I have played and likedmost of the best games on the 360. I love Halo, Gears, Oblivion, COD, and many others, but Fallout may be the best of them all. It is the most immerisve experience, with a good story, innovative combat, and tons of gameplay.

Don't fele bad if you are overwhelmed at first. After a couple of hours you will be much mor accustomed to the game. I recommend following the main quest until it take you to Rivet City. By that point you should be accustomed and at a higher enough level to explore and roam free.
